I get it from the spectator's point of view you want a quality tournament but same argument could be made for the Olympics where the rest of the world should just fuck off and let the United States and China, Russia and a handful of countries to battle it out.
I mean I personally don't mind more teams, if that's going to promote football as a whole. FA's consist of their countries clubs right? Why would clubs care about FIFA making money? All they see is the players they're paying a shit ton of money go to a tournament for a.month and get back overworked / injured. I can see some associations being against this. Well I think you missed my point I get if if clubs are against the World Cup, or any other tournament of similar kind for that matter. But I don't get why clubs would be against the new format (48 vs 32 teams) since they number of games will be exactly the same. One thing I can see is that perhaps a 48-team tournament would drag on longer, which would result in less rest time for players before a new tournament (though is this confirmed or will they make it work so that more games will be played in a day to not extend the overall duration?). Quality wise though, the last round of the group stage is now replaced with a knock-out Ro32. That and the fact there are only 2 games during the group stages will definitely make teams play more seriously in all of their games (less chance to overcome their initial fuck-up). I personally find it more entertaining this way. I doubt the team will play more seriously when you need just 1 win to advance and have opponents like New Zeland or Salvador in your group. Also uneven scheduling will be big problem as team that doesn't play on matchday 3 have a lot more rest for the play-off phase than others.

Players who participate in the world cup etc. will usually rejoin their clubs much later during the preparatory phase for the next the season. While for a big club, most of their key players will be at the world cup anyway, at least there were some world class players who rarely ever qualified for something with their national teams, for example Ibrahimovic, Vidic; and then there are countless not-so-well-knowns who nevertheless play key roles at their clubs. Now all those might get injured, and they will not be back in time for the some of the pre-season.
At least that's how it appears to me.

Real Madrid drew 3-3 after being 2-1 and 3-2 down with less than 10 minutes to play! Ramos Penalty and Benzema last gasp strike makes it a la liga record of 40 games unbeaten!

oh my god, this Real side literally has the definition of FIGHTING in them o.o They really looked for the 3-3 in a game that absolutely had no meaning for them...
If only we didn't have the CL winner's curse

Ok as it's Friday night, time for some fun!
So in the last 30 minutes;
Costa has not been training with the Chelsea squad the last 3 days because he fell out with a "trainer" Costa has been offered £567,000 a week (£30million a year) to play in China His agent Jorge Mendes is on his way to China as we speak The original story changed to he fell out with Conte TODAY in a big bust up in which Conte said "Go fuck off to China then" This all "means" he has been left out of the squad for Leicester game tomorrow evening...
Funny thing is, Chelsea official channels (Twitter / TV Channel) shown Costa training last 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Oh and some ESPN Journalist has just said Chelsea have activated Greizman's €100 million release clause
Oh boy :D

also, spaniards.. did Pere Gratacos get fired from Barcelona because he stated that 'Messi wouldn't have been as good if he didn't have help from Neymar, Suarez, Pique, Iniesta and the rest of the players'? cuz there's a norwegian article stating that and I thought it sounded almost too stupid to be real

This is what Barça have to say on the matter:
Pere Gratacós ha sido destituido como responsable de Relaciones Institucionales Deportivas del FC Barcelona con la Real Federación Española de Fútbol por haber expresado públicamente una opinión personal que no coincide con la de la Entidad, después del sorteo de los cuartos de final de la Copa del rey celebrado hoy en Madrid.
Pere Gratacós has been removed as responsible of Institutional Relations of FC Barcelona with the Royal Spanish Football Federation for publicly expressing a personal opinion that does not coincide with that of the Entity [Barça] after the draw of the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey.
And this is the quote (according to AS):
Leo es una persona de las más importantes del equipo, pero no pasó solo él, sin Neymar, Suárez, Iniesta y compañía no sería tan buen jugador. Messi es el mejor Leo is one of the most important people in the team, but it's not just about him. Without Neymar, Suárez, Iniesta and the rest he would not be as good a player. Messi is the best.
I think the main issue is that he is expressing his opinion about Messi in the middle of contract negotiations, rather than the exact words, which seem quite obvious and inoffensive.

Sooooo what is the "entity" of Barcelonas opinion ? That without these amazing players he would be as good a player ? Possible but a ridiculous assumption.
Edit: Ok so he didnt get fired, hes still working there hes just been removed from being "director of institutional relations " which is the corporate equivalent of being a night club promoter ( im being harsh here obviously)

I told you on the day chelsea bought costa that he will being you trouble haha
|
Well for that salary... Jesus... Given the point lead Chelsea have this could be a tough one for Chelsea. The money is amazing, but they could only get a decent replacement in the summer I feel.

heres every other team in top 6 hoping costa fucks off to china
|
Well conte is a no nonsense manager and especially dislikes players being distracted by money. He reprimanded even Buffon over this before.

The real reason is no one can attack Messi or Neymar because if either of those 2 left the club, the president wouldn't be reelected (or he'd have to quit early). They bring too much money for the club. Not saying it's a good thing but that's how it is. That's one reason why Guardiola left, the president wouldn't let Alves, Cesc, Piqué go and would rather see Pep out.

Kane is such a great striker, his movement and finishing makes it look easy.

yeah he had a slow start to the season but now he has 11 goals in the previous 11 matches.

Yeah, I think he was fatigued. Having Dele Alli chip in with goals also help relieve some of the pressure I think. Shame Janssen sucks though
