Thats what happens when you use Americans to pilot the program.

1 minute isnt that long... Also most of the minute was required because players didnt know ref wanted to stop play..
Also rofl at players complaining after video

Indeed cricket system seems best adapt for how we want the game to continue. 3rd official looks at monitor if someone appeals, he uses microphone to say "penalty/red card/no pen/foul" whatever.
However i must state that i am all for technology and if the choice was that system or none, then i would take the system they are trialing there.

There is a video referee that radios the ref, essentially the same as when an assistant sees something in the box. Don't think there is a challenge system but i have heart it brought up as a possibility.

Also rofl at players complaining after video I don't the wait was caused because players didn't want to stop, I think that was conversation between ref and video assistant. And no a minute is not really all that long, but it is a significant break and certainly long enough to cut to commercial which is what a lot of people that oppose this are afraid of.

No if that was going to happen it would happen in sports that it is employed in (football being an exception), if people cant see the deliberation process of big decisions they will flip shit. I think 30 secs to a minute is fine, but only for really big decisions. Cant over use it.
But yeah I strongly doubt any delay of 1 or 2 minutes will cause commercials to be involved.

Meh it isn't like we get to see more how a decision is made if the referee calls a pen himself or if the linesman tells him about one he missed. If you don't think 1 to 2 minutes is enough for a commercial you need to watch more NFL/basketball.

Chelsea grind out a hard 1-0 win in Sunderland, dominated the game but failed to increase the lead, looked a bit lost in front of goal at times but held on. In the 93rd minute Tibo makes a world class saves to keep it 1 now and we are now 6 points clear of Scousers who overtake Arsenal on goal difference.

Second win a row for United, and the lads finally learned how to finish a game where they were the better side, that's even more important than a good performance.

Ref was so shit in the Utd game for both sides.

yeah it was an atrocious performance from the ref. i think its ridiculous that refs arent handed punishments of some sort for downright shit refereeing. also think its stupid that we dont have video refereeing yet

I didnt say it was, but you will notice that those breaks arent really 1 or 2 minutes, they are much longer, a minute passes by really quickly. Im not talking 1 minute deliberating the whole processes watching camera angles which is the point they will skip.
I watch way more NFL and basketball than football sadly. Mostly a timing thing.

chelsea with 10 wins in a row. next 3 are away vs crystal palace, home vs bournemouth, home vs stoke. then away vs tottenham and leicester. Current record is 14, set by arsenal in 2002.

So I think it was pretty obvious that because the first Utd goal was off of a handball by Ibra and offsides by Pogba, that the ref tried to make up for it by ruling a perfectly legal goal offside in the second half. This is a pretty shitty way of reffing that needs to get punished. Not to mention that there was also a blatant handball in the box by Palace that was uncalled.

Wow, the rise of East Germany (geographically rather than historically). If the season ended now Hertha and Leipzig would be playing in the Champions League.
It disturbs me seeing how much poverty there is in China that money is just be thrown around like that. It's a truely crazy world. It's not just football and it happens in other countries but football and Chinese society exemplifies it best.

I wonder if any betting agency allows you to bet on Rojo getting red card next game. He seems pretty consistent with those double footers.

More video assistant, this time the referee doesn't have to watch. If I got this right, the goal was given, then the referee called offside because of the video assistant and then the assistant corrected himself and reversed to call goal?

As the commentators said, that one was a bit fucked up. While the commentators (in Spanish) seem a bit biased against video refereeing, they do have a point that nobody understood all the whistling the referee ended up doing. Of course, part of this confusion might be due to the novelty, part due to the referee being unclear, but this was definitely not a good example of video refereeing. Calling the referee to cancel the goal, and then reinstate it.
Also, why didn't the referee go over to the side to watch it on the screen, as the ref did in the penalty call situation?

My Spanish isn't anywhere near good enough so thanks for providing info on commentary. As for referee not watching himself my guess would be that it isn't really a call that requires the referees judgment. Offside is/should be a pretty clear cut issue while whether contact is a foul or there is enough of a foul penalty depends on the referees calls throughout the game.
Would be interesting to see if there is decent info on video assistant rules/guidelines anywhere other than the usual press release "hey we will be testing this new magic system there".
Edit: Found this: + Show Spoiler + It is up to the referee to review or just accept assistants call.
