I'd be elated if the Chiefs made the AFC Championship. We've seen this story so many times: ton of nice regular season wins, but failure in the playoffs. So Chiefs fans are still really nervous when it comes to playoff games.
However, the Patriots just don't scare me that much. If the Chiefs manage to get HFA and play the Patriots, then that'd be perfect as Brady has never played well in Arrowhead. The Chiefs also match up really well with the Pats. They were missing multiple key starters last year and it took a miracle catch by the Patriots to put the game away on their own home field. The Patriots aren't ever pushovers in the playoffs and there's something to be said about being there every January and winning year after year, but it would be nice to get a shot at them with a much healthier team

No Gronk really hurts their big plays on offense and their defense has often looked weak this year.
Without Gronk the offense is different, but honestly this is the best WR corp the Pats have had in a long time, maybe since Moss. Malcom Mitchell is becoming very good and Hogan is just starting to get right again after his injury. Both of those guys open the field up for Brady. Bennett also is still trying to get healthy and a Bye week will do him lots of good.
The defense... I dunno.
But Pats fans aren't worried about the Chiefs because that offense is meh and the defense isn't deep enough to handle Brady's weapons.

thought it was kind of interesting although not too big of news, but in the FCS quarterfinals, #5 11-0 Sam Houston State played #4 10-1 (only loss to UNC) James Madison tonight. The over under was set at a college football record 92.5 eclipsing the record high set by Baylor vs Texas Tech last year (92). James Madison was only a 2.5 point favorite at home but ended up winning 65-7. so much for that line

That's really odd. I guess it can be best explained like HS teams that don't have any common opponents whatsoever and therefore it's really hard to gauge talent disparity? Did Sam Houston lose their QB or something?

the former. the difference in quality in the FCS conferences is much more evident in the FCS than in the FBS. Sam Houston State played in a pretty weak conference which is why even with an undefeated season they were only ranked #5. They won a lot of their games in shootouts so it was known that their defense wasnt very good but I guess betters thought they could still give up points. It looks like they just couldnt get anything going early and put themselves behind the 8 ball. The game started with a SHSU fumble turned into a quick JMU score. Then they went 3 and out and gave up another quick td. and finally to end the 3rd quarter they gave up a punt return td after a 3 and out.
They look like they're kind of like Texas Tech where everything is a pass and they basically run a 2 min drill nonstop so when they go 3 and out they take like 30 seconds off the clock and their defense is so bad the other team is almost guaranteed to score.

Texas Tech is a great example. I think I watched them lose to ISU like 63-7 or something this year.
It's still odd to me that it was only a -2.5 for JMU though.
