Oh well, at least he has Sky Sports and England to fall back on. Was a hard job to go into, especially being a foreign one first.

Battle of the pastys? Do they sell pastys instead of pukka pies in the ground?
|
I don't think I've actually ever been to a Devon Derby. They used to be in different leagues. But of course you can get a pasty at half time in St James Park (the real, one in devon)
|
This Clasico is going to be strange. Tuesday Barça plays Atletico, and they are far ahead in the league, so they can't give everything. Real plays Wolfburg, so they could actually play more seriously, but they're so far in the league, what's the point? Except avoiding a 0-4...
They will probably both field the best team available but I don't expect a great game. As a Barça fan, I couldn't care less about losing this game, as long as it's not humiliating, if it means beating Atletico on Tuesday. Would a defeat lower the morale of the team? I'm not even sure x)

It could be a huge bust for Real Madrid morale. They loosed against Barcelona, Villareal and Atlético this season in la liga, so they have not won any match against the top 4. If they win, they can believe in their posibilites against a big team for a future CL fixture.
I agree that this match is less important for Barcelona. Although It seems that the death of Cruyff is encouraging the players. Many of them have said that they must win Real Madrid as an homenaje for Johan.

England team get paid, but they are "forced" to give all their match fee (wage) to charity which i guess is an unwritten rule they all follow. Interesting if that goes anywhere.

England players get around £1000 per appearance but they donate it to charity

Interesting if that goes anywhere. Oh, I know if anyone in our national team complained about their pay there would be a shitstorm unlike anything I have ever seen. Its supposed to be a privilege, go nag your club for money.
edit: Don't know if this is only an American thing, what do the German women say about their paychecks? I have no idea who won the last womens World Cup off the top of my head.
edit2: oh, it was the US
|
dont the women get paid like shit compared to the men at the club level? but im sure some of them gets more sponsorship money by playing for the national team, dunno how they can really complain about that.
|
Yeah. Not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it makes sense that the women playing for a national squad get the same as men playing for the national squad. On the other hand, their pay comes from TV and stadium money and however FIFA distributes that, and I am going to assume that that is simply far lower for women than for men.
