You can certainly argue that benching Carmelo when he is in the middle of a 4-19, 9 point game would have increased their chances of winning last night. The problem is Carmelo is the only piece they have set their team on building around in the future. Everyone else is expendable in the long term and Fisher really can't afford to piss Carmelo off, especially with how bad their record is likely to be this year. A bad record and losing Carmelo's support would be a likely quick exit for Fisher even if he is Phil Jackson's choice.

On a side note, there is no reason to think that just because Phil Jackson is a hall of fame coach, that he will be a good GM. Just like Michael Jordan being one of the greatest players of all time hasn't helped him succeed as a GM.

I don't think you can argue that at all. It's dumb no matter how you look at it. Maybe if we were talking about a sophomore that had a history of being incapable of bouncing back from a poor shooting performance in the first half, but we aren't. Benching Melo for the 4th quarter because he's only 4-15 after 3 quarters doesn't make sense on any planet.

I was playing basketball with a friend earlier today, and I hes really mad at me because I'm aware of his laker fandom and part way through I started yelling "Kobe" every time one of us had a really ugly missed shot. Totally worth it though.

BTW I had Steph as clear MVP level earlier on, but CP3 has come back to form (defense still not ATG level imo yet). After a small hiccup and waiting for Blake, JJ and Barnes to get back to acceptable levels and beat up on weak teams they are looking good.

Steph and CP3 are my clear top 2 PGs right now with a gap between them and everyone else (Wall, Lowry, Lillard)

klay thompson's an interesting case on value. the guy has such crazy on/off stats and he doesn't rotate together with curry either. he seems to do a really nice job destroying the opposing guard on defense, and his shot interfering defense is crazy good. it's currently at -7.8%, which is like the best among perimeter players i think.

he's a big part of golden state being a top 3 defense when bogut is in the lineup.
