a play that is both absolutely terrible shot selection and amazing athleticism. wiggins was really good that game all around, while not getting like 4 calls.

That was some strange footwork. Also, as if we don't all read it, that new Goldsberry article on defense was amazeballs.

the defense article was very nice. player tracking data + scheme analysis is the holy grail of basketball analysis. but i feel the "moment to moment" matchup thing doesn't adequately take into account how team level defensive schemes can hang together. with better data and data tools the quality of analysis will get better, and this is just the start of great things to come.

Derrick Rose reported Tuesday with right knee pain. An exam and subsequent MRI confirmed a medial meniscus tear of the right knee. Surgery will be scheduled, after which a timeline for his return will be determined.

Removing it has a faster recovery time but also...removes a piece of cartilage from your knee. Rose has been so overtly cautious with his time tables in the past, I can't imagine he's going to go for anything but the safest/highest quality of life option. EDIT: No judgement in that. He has every right to treat his body in whatever manner he see's fit.

recovery time with a torn meniscus can vary greatly because part of the meniscus has really good circulation making recovery fast. another part of the meniscus has "tendon-like" circulation and takes many months to heal after surgery this is why some guys have a meniscus tear and they recover quickly and its like nothing happened. other people get a tear in the part with very bad circulation and its almost like their knee is never the same if the DRs are saying they gotta go in and see it before they can determine recovery time i take what they're saying at face value.
