This supposedly best cristiano season is light years behind messi's best season. He needs to score 41, that's not a typo, 41 goals in the remaining 8 games to match messi's record. Messi himself is only 5 goals behind cristiano in 2014 btw, this can ez change. | ||

Geez your Messi worship is kinda annoying. The award is given to the best player during a given year, who is better than other players in that year. Even if Cristiano scored 0 goals throught his whole career prior to year 2014 he's still the best player this year. It's irrelevant what Messi did in his career, that's not what this award is about. With that in mind Neuer would also be a good candidate for this year's winner. He had great 2nd part of season last year, except the blunder vs RM in CL, has good 1st half of this year's season and was a major part of Germany's WC sucess. You said Messi is 5 goals behind Ronaldo in 2014. This season alone (2014-15) Ronaldo has double the goals of Messi so i just wanted to know how you found out that Messi has scored "x" goals in 2014 and Ronaldo scored "x" goals in 2014. On wikipedia it only breaks it down into how many in each season 2013-2014 & 2014-2015. So was wondering if there was another website for the information. | ||

You can see that messi is 5 goals behind and 8 assists ahead. | ||

Ronaldo: http://www.realmadrid.com/en/football/squad/cristiano-ronaldo-dos-santos Scroll down until you see statistics, select season and then click on more statistics to reveal goals. 2014-15 total is 22 goals, 2013-14 total is showing 51 goals. Edit: Bah, obviously didn't account for the international goals. | ||

The most undeserved was Cannavaro's FIFA World Player of the Year and it's not really close imo. Guy wasn't even the best CB of Italy in that world cup.
