From a relatively neutral pov, I'm leaning towards Ronaldo slightly this year.
I actually think Ronaldo deserved to win that year more than he did the one last year. Kaka was brilliant in the champions league, but he and Milan were only decent in the league. Even without the point reduction they would have ended third in the league and a km away from the winners Inter Milan. Ronaldo was brilliant in all competitions, reached the FA cup final, semi's in the champions league and won the league.

Hard to argue with something slamming goals left and right Didn't you read the previous posts? He's just 5 goals above messi. Hardly slammed anything towards any direction. xD I think you are mistaking ballon for the golden boot.
Alright, lets humour this for a second. Now let me clarify. To me Messi is the better player. But when you keep talking about contribution outside goals. I dont think your accounting for the amount of space and coverage Ronaldo draws
Recently everytime he gets space you literally feel like the defense is terrified and he has his man beat and sometimes even draws 2. Messi does the same sure but in higher profile games the outlets have also been gassed pretty hard.
The other thing is he is effective playing of a flank. Messi is not, this means more space. Barcelona may run through Messi but they also become incredibly narrow because of him so its not all peaches and cream. One could argue its a limitation of the system, style and tactics their teams employ but you can only judge based on what you are given and in that respect Ronaldo this year was far superior.
There you go I was being sloppy and throwing one liners like Sharkie does but obviously thats a poor way to make a point so my bad..
The effectiveness of either is reflected in the fact that real won more trophy's than Barca. Its

That's sarcasm right? xD ummm no, I'd say he gets it for the same reasons Messi has for the past few others. His team won alot and he scored alot of goals.. I'm flabbergasted. Messi was actually the pivotal piece of barca, well, still is. Cristiano just happened to be the guy up front. By that logic isn't Messi just "the guy up front?" And Benzema would be that guy for Real Madrid... Messi is not just a finisher, he can do everything. That's what I mean. Anyway, the best deserve the ballon and messi is the best so get your ass straight platini! Just because you're a Messi fanboy doesn't mean he should get the reward. Cristiano was the better player throught year 2014 and deserves to win it this year, cause noone else was even close. Chelsea sucks haha. Drawing with Maribor, that's almost as bad as Arsenal's 3 goal collapse. Especially after Mourinho was promising domination before the game. There is still a slight chance Chelsea doesn't make it to ro16, although they probably will. Doesn't look like english teams can hope for more than ro16 though. Unless it's just a smoke screen and Chelsea are intentionally putting in subpar performances to make the big clubs complacent when they eventually get them in the knockout stages and cruise on the the final!
Give Maribor some credit. They put up a good fight in front of their home fans.

I hope youre better at sc2 than fotball because this is hilarious. Do you really think chelsea dosnt get higher than ro16??? DO you really think that they just * probably * make it to the round of 16??? LOL Chelsea have been in 5 of 5 semis the last 5 years. they have the best academy right now whit most good youngsters on loan and have probably the best or second/third best squad. Even real madrid and barca loses time to time.. Chelsea havent lost yet, even if the performances havent been the best we stil manage to NOT LOSE. Premier league is also the hardest league whit most top clubs.
Chelsea having the best academy is debatable. It's more like they're the best at buying players from other teams' academies.

Chelsea have the best academy haha? When is the last time a young player broke through to the Chelsea first team? They just buy all the talent from other academies and waste it all.

In the last ermm 5 seasons we have given first team debuts to "academy" players of; Matic Borini Kalas (away to Liverpool last year kept a clean sheet vs Suarez Gerrard Sturridge etc) Ake Baker Solanke Christensen McEachran Kakuta Chalobah Romeu Bertrand
There just the ones i remember and recall

Only Matic and Terry play regularly for the first team though. You look at teams known for their youth academies and you see many players from the academy playing for the first team. There is just not enough of that at Chelsea for them to be considered the best yet, but things can change because they obviously have talented youth.

Matic was a transfer and not an academy product I believe. In any case Chelsea purchased him twice before he could join the 1st team.
Chelsea has had lots of success but its academy certainly hasn't been a part of it.

All of those players have spent at least 2-3 years in the academy section of the team. Some of the players were "bought" but they were bought when they were like 16/17. Matic i was wrong with though we signed him at 21 XD

Well the point is rather that getting a couple of games in a cup is not exactly breaking through to the first team. If you're talking about becoming a regular starter, there have been zero since Abramovich has arrived.
Of course we are not exactly talking about Chelsea's weak point. Abramovich simply used his billions to turn the rest of Europe's clubs into his academy. You only have to look at Arsenal or Southampton to see where having a successful academy gets you.

If Romeu is Oriol Romeu then he is from Barça's La Masia, not Chelsea's academy.

The vast majority of those are not from Chelsea academy, simply bought from other academies and trained there the last few years. None of them have broken through to regular first team play. JT is the last player to go through Chelsea academy and become an important player for them and he's going to retire/MLS pretty soon.
The Matic example is particularly bad. Despite being a great talent he never got a real shot at Chelsea, was sold to Benfica and then bought back when Benfica further developed him. He never was a Chelsea youth product anyways.
I admire the time and money Roman has put into the academy at Chelsea and I think at some point it will reap rewards, but right now, it's graveyard of talent because none of their youth products get a chance to play actual games. Sturridge and Lukaku are prime examples of this. If they had play for clubs willing to give them game time I truly wonder how good they may have become. This is a huge weakness IMO of all top PL clubs and one of the primary reasons they are so weak in Europe ATM, no youth.
