That said, I think Messi is the best ever and he would do just as well in other leagues and other teams that play around him. I think the question of what happens if a team doesn't build around him is absurd, because why the hell wouldn't you build around a player that is so effective at spearheading your attack?
Building a team around one player is always very very dangerous. France in 2002 completely failed without Zidane.
It's just a big problem if the player gets injured or loses his form. It's not feasible in modern football anymore imo.

Yeah wonder if it might be a ploy to cover up potential FFP issues. Cashing in on both of those is easily £60million right? 30-30 or maybe 35-25 etc. Hell id take Cavani still if he wants to battle with Costa for striker :3

Every team is built around a few key players. Barca is not just Messi but obviously he is by far the most important player on the pitch.
Cavani going for Arsenal could be a great choice, but considering how good Sanchez is playing, Walcott is back, Ramsey too and Giroud will at some point i rather him get 1 or 2 CB and maybe an extra defensive midfield
Varane + Khedira + Vertonghen (but he is from Spurs) or Dante if BM doesnt want him
of course if they have the money for Cavani and the other 2-3 that would be much better

I know what he does instead of holding the ball up but if he joined say West Ham he would need to be able to hold the ball up because the other 10 players on the pitch would be defending for their lives xD
But Ronaldo might have a better chance at that but of course he doesn't dribble to the level of Messi and able to skin 3 people with his low centre of gravity etc.
Oh also it is not Mesnol birthday, his birthday is 6th December but he selected January when signing up to TL because he messed up. He said you can't change it either xD
IF your defination of a complete striker is someone who can play with his back to goal and play as a target man. Then the sad state of english defending shouldnt bother you at all.

Teams should be built by first assembling a strong spine, and then fitting flair players around it. You can over-perform with a solid spine (see any team Sam Allardyce has ever managed) but you will find it hard to meet expectations without a spine (see Arsenal since Wenger lost the last pieces of the spine assembled for him by a previous manager).
And what about all those years allardyce teams performed like shit ? Where was the strong spine then ? I agree Arsenals woes are a lack of spine but the logic doesnt really float consistently in the way you present it.

Which is also BS because Henry was a more complete striker than half the people who make their living doing this and he wasnt exactly a target man.
Besides even fucking Charlie Austin and Peter Crouch can play hold up. Its like the thinnest of all ways to build attacking play. Thats why teams with less talented attacking talent employ it.
Also read the damn article and present some reasonable counter arguments, Dont cherry pick semantics. But then again cant expect much more than 140 characters out of you.

A complete striker can do bits of everything. Henry has played his back to goal loads for Arsenal from my knowledge of his premier league time. Just look at his goal highlight reels and you see many goals where he is facing with his back to goal then spins or does something out of this world.
But that still isn't the point. Willy says (or i misinterpreted him) that Messi was a complete striker in which he isn't because he can't do the back to goal stuff and holding it up. Or be that guy to knock it down and be strong like Ibra/Drogba strikers.
Gianfranco Zola's new career as manager of Cagliari got off to an awful start today, as they got shellacked 5-0 by Palermo!
Dybala had another 2 goals and is now second in Serie A with 9 (Tevez has 10). He's been getting a lot of attention from Prem clubs lately; I hope Palermo can hold on to him for the rest of this season and next season. The club president slapped a 40 million euro price tag on him, which would be incredibly steep given what he's accomplished so far in his career in Italy (one decent season in Serie B and an excellent first half of this season in Serie A).
Exciting times to be a Palermo fan - they were pegged as relegation candidates at the beginning of the season and are now sitting in 8th, just 2 points out of a Europa League spot!
