Do you spend 150 million for one player who is limited and who needs a system that works around him? Limited? He needs a system around him? No, he's so good that people have to adapt to him. He didn't ask Guardiola to change the system for him, Guardiola realized that changing the system for him was the best thing for the team. He's that good. And limited, please... He's one of the most complete offensive player in the world, he can play pure 9, false 9, winger, and 10. Tell me what Ronaldo can play? Winger, that's it. It's not another Messi vs Ronaldo debate, but CR is the second most expensive player on the market, so it's the only one comparable to Messi on that aspect. About the video where Messi 'refuses' to be substituted, this video doesn't show everything. Enrique asks him if he's a bit injured and want to come off, Messi gives him a "thumbs up" so Enrique doesn't sub him... This kind of video editing is done by shows like Punto Pelota which are 100% Madrid socios or by Marca/As... And about Zubizarreta, it's hard to judge if he was good or not, I think he always had his hands tied. He didn't sign Neymar nor Suarez, and being a GK himself, I find it hard to believe that he chose to recruit both Ter Stegen and Bravo. These are direction's orders... He was sacked the minute he said the truth about it.

Pure ignorance. Well limited is obviusly not to be taken literally, you could play 1-6-0-3 and he would still frking rock at it. That they gameplan for him is not just random, it is because its their best chance of winning. But by doing so you need the right players around him to play him with the most effectivenes. What comes to my mind are things like Athleticos defensive 4-4-2 or playing him alongside Ibra in a 4-1-3-2 kinda shape or lets take Dortmund of 2011. Can he play all these systems? Of course he can. Are you "useing him" in the best possible way? I dont think so. If you think about it a lot of "superstars" or potential "goats" are specialists. Tom Brady, one of the best of all time for sure but have you seen him running the football? No you dont because he is aweful hat it. Or Shaq, maybe the best basketball center of all time who had a scoring range of like 4 square meter around the basket. Its not about what he can and can not do these guys are professional athletes they "can" play any position, its about how to use your best player the most effective way.

Also Ronaldo does play as a striker this season or at least they tried a 4-4-2 a few games didn't they Madrid? Messi is world class, Ronaldo is world class. Ronaldo was great in the premiership and even better in La Liga. Messi is awesome in La Liga now please if possible lets see what he can do in another team in another league (that is competitive, aka Premiership or Bundesliga type)

He doesn't play with his back to the goal like some others because he doesn't need to. He takes the ball, faces the goal and does his thing. It's the same thing but messi does it better. *it's just a type of player, there are players good enough to dribble and face the goal(like hazard) and others more heavy or with not so good technique that need to play with their back because they can't do otherwise.

That said, I think Messi is the best ever and he would do just as well in other leagues and other teams that play around him. I think the question of what happens if a team doesn't build around him is absurd, because why the hell wouldn't you build around a player that is so effective at spearheading your attack?

He is a dribbler and a playmaker, his lack of physicallity is undeniably a limitation and it prevents him from being a complete forward. If a comparison must be made, Ronaldo is a more complete player, good in the air, strong, fast, and technical and a good dribbler with good vision I think he would be succesful no matter the role he is asked to play up front. That said, I think Messi is the best ever and he would do just as well in other leagues and other teams that play around him. I think the question of what happens if a team doesn't build around him is absurd, because why the hell wouldn't you build around a player that is so effective at spearheading your attack? Why being a "complete" player should only take into account physical aspects? I agree that Ronaldo is a more "complete athlete" than Messi, but Messi, imo, is a more "complete player". Messi has Xavi-level vision, Pirlo-level passing skill, and I'm not even talking about his finishing skills... Yes, he's small, but he's also a lot more difficult to stop than Ronaldo thanks to that. He's as fast, if not faster, with the ball, and he's so fast at turning around and arming his shots that he doesn't need a right foot... I agree that he cannot play like Drogba or Ibra, but except for counter-attacking/defensive teams, who plays 9 like this? Even Ibra isn't playing like this in PSG, he has freedom and plays like a false 9. There are so many other ways to use his talent, that we shouldn't even debate the case where he would have to play as a Drogba-like 9...

But Ronaldo might have a better chance at that but of course he doesn't dribble to the level of Messi and able to skin 3 people with his low centre of gravity etc. Oh also it is not Mesnol birthday, his birthday is 6th December but he selected January when signing up to TL because he messed up. He said you can't change it either xD
