This morning Block clean + Jerk - 50 70 80 90 100 110 and a few at 120. Was actually pretty sore this morning which I guess makes sense after 5 workouts + rugby + football since monday evening. Feels good though http://instagram.com/p/ufyjTMQCJZ/

Yeah they're usually nice enough to let me work in if they're not using the bar, but we have perfectly adequate pull up bars about ten feet away so why use the rack to begin with?
Pulled 135 for the first time since I snapped up my shit. Felt awful, I can feel the top and the bottom screws dig and my mobility is all ruined and I'm crazy light but ehh, we take those. Then did some squat triples at 95lbs lol
I have been thinking about buying new shoes for my training but I'm not sure that it would actually be that useful given the advice that I read on the internet.
What I see is people saying that you need "olympic weightlifting shoes" (with dat high, solid heel) for squats and "flat shoes" for deadlifts. The problem is that I'm not going to go to the gym carrying to pairs of shoes in my bag and switching pairs between each exercise (plus that would be a costly investment). Is there a type of shoe that is good for both deadlifting and squatting ?
I'm starting to think that what I am currently using is not a bad compromise after all. I use an old, "low quality" pair of runnings, which means that I get slightly elevated heels and a shoe that is relatively rigid, because its "squishy" part is so old and worn out that it really isn't that "squishy" anymore. That seems okay for weightlifting from what I have gathered on the internet, but maybe I could still benefit from using a more specific type of shoe ?
My gym has a rule where you can't be barefoot for anything, something to do with health and safety or some nonsense. I ended up just wearing chucks because I can wear those around at uni too, saves space in my bag not having a second pair of shoes.
they might let you have shoes off if you tell them that you'll put your shoes on whenever you're not doing a lift (or stretch), this seems to be working with my uni gym so far (so far...)
you do feel like a complete fucking moron putting your shoes on every few minutes just because some retard girl will tell you off
If you have to deadlift on shoes, they might as well be oly shoes. They are better than any other gym shoes imo. The raised heel isnt ideal, but atleast they are perfectly flat soles. I deadlift in them when i go to the gym, I will take them off if I'm working out at home though.
I got the cheapest adidas weightlifting shoes, I think they are called Powerlifts. They are not the best, a bit too flexible, but that is actually an advantage for deadlifts. They still help a fair amount on squats etc. Definitely was a good buy, I didn't think I could afford the high-end stuff, and for the price they do the job well enough.
I think andy bolton deadlifts in ballet shoes though, so theres that too.
