I guess I could give the Adidas Powerlifts a try but it seems to me like it'd be a tradeoff more than a net gain so I'm not even sure about that. Squats would probably feel better but since I'm not used to deadlifting with elevated heels I imagine that they would become harder and wouldn't feel as good as they currently do (compared with my current shoes). Maybe I can try to go to an Adidas store and see/touch the shoes for myself to get a better idea of dat oly feel.

If you have been lifting for over 6 months and plan and it seems u will keep doing it, just get the good stuff. The powerlifts sole is not that solid and will start to give within a year of heavy squatting.

Your other supposedly flat soled gym shoes meanwhile have many things that make them good for walking, but those things make them bad for lifting. Even the flattest normal gym shoes will have a slight bouncy curve thing in the sole, and they won't be as inflexible as oly shoes. Because an inflexible shoe with a flat sole would be uncomfortable for walking, which lifting shoes are. Once you have deciphered this gibberish I'm sure you will make a wise decision. (In the end its just shoes though)

I even went to several stores (things like Adidas, Nike, but also specialized French sports stores), every time I asked if I could find "weightlifting shoes" the people who worked there didn't even know what I was talking about and the stores didn't actually sell any. Even the Adidas stores don't sell Powerlifts/Adipowers (I would have to buy them online). That's part of the reason why I gave up on buying weightlifting shoes for a while. So I guess I'll have to go with Adidas if I buy weightlifting shoes. And given that "Adipowers" cost 200 euros I think that the "Powerlift" model should be enough for a first try. Edit : I can get Power Perfect shoes from Amazon too.

Powerlift -> Power Perfect -> adipower I have been lifting with Power Perfect 2s for 2 months now and the difference is huge. I noticed when I tried squatting in regular gym shoes this week and felt super unstable and awkward. I also need to find a solution to the deadlift since I know I am putting people off by lifting in socks. Ballerina slippers sound like a good idea.

And on the topic of salt and hydration. How can I know if I need more or less salt. Is it best just to take x-amount for every hour of sweating?

By drinking plenty and eating a diet that isn't monotonous you can avoid most of the problems. Only when you are training very hard and / or sweating excessively you need to take it into account.

That's what the studio near where we are staying offered ![]() There's probably benefits for loosening up muscles and focusing. It was a pretty good experience but probably not something I would pay that kinda money for. Schooled all the guys in the class. What up crow pose.

Yeah it's not that I don't drink a lot of water, but I do train harder than pretty much everyone and summer is starting here. Not sure about foods that have magnessium? I def feel a lot fresher. DL: 212.5kgx3x5 (PR) OHP 55kgx10x3 (PR) BB Rows 60kgx12x2 I don't even feel fatigue on my back anymore, but legs start to die on me. Last 2-3 weeks before the meet I think I'll remove the oly lifting day to get a day between heavy squats and deadlifts. Funny squats fatigue my back and deadlifts my legs :p. Deadlifts are beltless lol.
