Just finished Coan Philipi week 4, so fucking hard. Deadlifted my old 1 rep max (345lbs) for 2, so huge improvements already.

Congratulations! To finish week 4 is a great milestone. Now eat like your life depends on it because you get an easier run next time but then it ramps up fast again for week 8.

So I finished Smolov Jr for OHP on Sarturday, and didn't feel like waiting longer to test my max. I've also been talked into starting Smolov Jr again next week but for bench this time, will see how that goes. Shoulders still sore, but it's just the muscles.

So, I put on between 5 and 7.5kg on to my OHP during the 3 weeks. I'm pretty happy with that, given that it really didn't feel as hard as I expected.

Lifted today after taking a 4 day break from any lifting

Weight: 179 lbs (gained 2 pounds from last time, but I'm not surprised. I overate this weekend. I need to get on top of that)

Back Squat: 5x135, 5x155, 5x185, 5x205, 5x225
Bench Press: 5x135, 5x155, 5x165, 5x165, 6x160 (last set was to failure. I knew I couldn't stay at the same weight and get 5 reps)
Barbell Shrug: 12x185, 10x205, 8x205
Seated Calf Raises: 15x115, 12x125, 10x125
Weighted Dips: 12x25, 10x27.5, 8x30

Then I did some bodyweight abs stuff (as normal) and did some indoor agilities because it was much too cold to do anything outside. Also, I weighed myself after the workout and I only weighed 174. O.O Can I really lose 5 pounds of water in two hours?

Bench 180 5,5,4 Felt really heavy so I'm bummed didn't complete 3x5 but still happy I got 4.5 reps on the last set. Also been a week since last bench due to cold boo.

I felt really bad today. Went on vacation this weekend and drank and ate a lot. thursday should be back to progressing on my lifts

Haha dude, I was in Africa over x-mas/new years. Got so fucking sick that I had to fly home earlier (high fever, pounding headache, diarreah etc). Had gotten sunburnt the day before I flew home... and on the flight it all turned into blisters. All over my shoulders/back and thighs. Walked through the airport with shorts rolled up so they wouldn't touch my blisters and it looked so SUPER gay, got stared at massively :D I also woke up on the plane home with a weird pain in my foot. Rolled down my sock to reveal a gigantically swollen foot covered in a purple blotch. Guess something bit me as a goodbye present - couldn't walk for two days when I got home. Africa sure did a number on me as well :p


I'd like to see Africa but there's a reason why i really wouldnt travel there, all the diseases and stuff going on + the body not being used to the food and the climate :s


It's a beautiful place and I don't regret going, even though it set me back quite a few kilos and lots of progress in the end. I myself was an on overland truck from Tanzania->Victoria Falls and while we ate african foods on the trip, we were fed mainly western shit like cornflakes and white bread with peanut butter. The latter did much more to cripple my immune system than anything else I think. I took probiotics but it didn't seem to help versus the inevitable travel stomach-> diarreah :/
On the plus side we butchered a pig, skinned and gutted it, then spitfire roasted it for dinner one day. It was primally delicious :D

Worked out today! Yay!
Body Weight: 175 lbs
(Lost 4 lbs from yesterday :D Hopefully I can keep the losing up. Just have to stick to a healthy diet and I think I will be fine.)
Power Clean: 5x115, 5x135, 5x145, 5x155, 5x160
Deadlift: 5x225, 5x235, 5x245, 5x260, 5x275
Overhead Press: 7x95, 6x95, 5x95
Pull Up(Bodyweight): x7, x5, x3

Then I pushed a truck around the parking lot That is some seriously tough stuff. My deadlifts weren't very high because I haven't actually deadlifted in 7 months and I usually use a hex bar. Barbell seems much harder. Was kind of dissapointed with my OHP and Pull Ups. I don't do OHP. Like ever. So I am trying hard to work on that. I was hoping I would get more reps on my pull ups. Oh well. I guess it's because I did OHP right before. Overall, I feel good about my workout seeing as I am now doing much better on my power cleans and my weight is starting to drop.

I'd lower the reps on power cleans to sets of 3 or less and make sure your form is perfect every rep. Or even start working on full cleans!

Did a couple rounds on my punching bag today.. Felt relaxing
Followed up with 3x8 of ab wheel and crunches.

Today it's felt like my joints are hurting.. just below the hip. I felt it after squating yesterday.. So I am debating on whether or not to squat tomorrow. The pain isn't terrible, like a 3/10. But it is definitely there if I shift weight to either side. IDK.. I guess I'll just wait until I go to the gym @2pm tomorrow to see how I feel. Hopefully I can squat because I was hoping to throw a plate on each side and just go for it!
