@Autoexec: one also tends to forget that he has only been in the sport for only a few years. He used to play basketball (and was quite talented [read: tall]) but got some kind of an ankle injury and decided to get strong. With only "moderate" success. ![]() Back in the good old days (2006/7)

I attended the classic two years in the past, and it was awesome, and Brian Shaw honestly seems like one of the nicest guys in the world. The Strongest Man in the World A new era of strength competitions tests the limits of the human body. Someone posted that in last year's thread - it's a great article, and having read it really made this year's WSM finals mmore fun to watch, to see if the defending champion could overcome his injuries.

@sJarl iirc it was a knee injury not an ankle one.

He's so good at all the stuff I think of as the real strongman events, like atlas stones etc. He was unbelievably rapid at WSM on all the stone loading stuff. Shame he falls behind on stuff like squat and deadlift, squat especially is an odd one to have imo. @sJarl iirc it was a knee injury not an ankle one. His ROM on the squat and deadlift is like twice the ROM of an average person lol. He wrecks on the stones tho

The Deadlift-set took everything out of me, but satisfied with the 10 reps. Squats and Press were also hard. I will take the whole next two days off to recover. For the next cycle, I'll increase the weight for Deadlifts agressively (12,11,10 reps is kind of more than I wanted), not quite sure yet if I do the same for Squats. Also for robe skipping, I achieved 28 consecutive Double-Unders. Long term goal is 50.

Is this a good idea or will it backfire? Also, I see a bunch of guys doing weighted pull-ups in their starting strength routines. How/when do you do these?

Secondly, I've tried for months to get Barbell Rows down and just can't do it. I also want to start Olympic lifts in June and think that swapping to Power Clean is a good idea to get into the swing of things early. Is this a good idea or will it backfire? For what it's worth, I did the same thing switching from SL to SS for pretty much the same reasons. I do weighted pull-ups in place of clean.

Yeah. not even close lol, 90 felt really heavy so I just stopped there. sn up to 60, cj up to 90, clean pulls 105 x3x3, bs 100x5x5

Just switching between SL and SS won't backfire because they're basically the same program. I've seen people doing pull-ups/chin-ups just at the end of the session, either day or both. I think there's more info about it in the SS book, pretty sure there's a whole section on assistance.

Just add the oly lifts with an empty bar to the end of your workouts, the earlier you start the better off you'll be

High box squats: 445-3 5 second paused front squats: 185: 5-5-5 Hanging leg raises: 12-12-12 Friday Bench press: 275-4 (strained a bicep) military press: 135: 10-10-10 couldn't do much else but rehab and hope I didn't injure myself bad enough to affect deadlifts tomorrow since it's my underhand and switching feels weird to me...
