I dont live near decaf lol. I'm already qualified for american open, but I have a meet next sunday and another at the end of october.

Qualifying for american open can happen anytime throughout the year, so my total from nationals counts.

Ohhhh, okay gotcha. Sweet, is the one coming up on Sunday a smaller one or will there be videos/a stream?? I've got one coming up in mid October but it's a small one that has powerlifting, strongman, kettlebell as well as weightlifting all in the same area. Can't wait.

blah. not a bad meet, 289 total which is a PR with a 134 snatch PR (only snatched more w/ straps) and tied my cj pr with 155. gotta lift B session in the 94kg (blah friday lifting gaaaaaay. wanted to lift sat with the big dawgs). Went for the 162kg CJ and racked it but couldn't quite stand up. time for lots of training and rugby and hopefully i can break a 300kg total at the open.

p.s. wait till you see my 155. great lols

Got my first tip at the gym today.

Don't stand up completely (lockout) for a squat. Instead, you want to keep your knees bent so you don't hyper extend your hamstrings.

Told the guy thanks for the advice and I'll keep it in mind, though. Wasn't an ass about it.

Why would you not want to stand up straight? Just stand up straight normally and you won't hyperextend anything.

You don't have to "lockout" per se, but you do have to stand up straight as you normally do.

Exactly what I was thinking. Heard of plenty of people hyper extend their hamstrings when they got up from the couch, right?

I don't even know how you could do that squatting to be honest lol. Maybe deadlifting with a extreme lockout lay back.

Wow, I don't know what's up but my left shoulder (apparently a bit loose) just doesn't seem to like high bar squats.

Right after the sets and for the rest of the day it became really sore. Seeing that there's not that many ways to put the bar on your traps I think I'm just gonna see how front squats feel and stick to those if they're ok, as long as my wrist is cool with them.

Never wearing a dri-fit or under armour shirt again. Too slippery for the back squats Pretty sucky day and workout. Press on.

Shoulder feeling better today, did a full normal routine finally :D:D:D:D:::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D can't even express how happy that made me still makes me, felt sooooo great, holy crap :D And I have a workout partner for University gym

Also didn't lose too much strength while I was off of lifting, only 10 lbs with OHP (considering I had a shoulder injury and couldn't really do any upper body for the last month I thought I'd have lost more here)

gz, my shoulder's been fucked for quite a while now and I'm not expecting it to get better without surgery.

Just need to experiment and figure out a sustainable routine. Regarding my previous post, front squats feel a lot better than back squats.

My injury wasn't too bad at least, sorry bro, hope you figure out stuff you can do I picked up running in my downtime and actually found I really enjoy it, so don't forget to look outside of lifting :D:D:D:D::D (also I feel machines are actually pretty good during injuries IMO)

Yeah I made the mistake of trying to do it in a sports top, went straight back to wearing cotton and putting up with leaving looking like I fell in the pool.

To be honest the least hassle I've ever had was when I did it topless, but not possible in my Uni gym, kinda BM.

Okay I have just noticed that I wasn't actually working my abs optimally for 2 years straight while doing crunches which is why my abs haven't been properly developed!

Food for thought, don't just rise your body close to the legs as possible. Try to press the lower back close to the ground as possible and then use as much muscles to pull yourself. And most importantly, don't try to use your necks. I've learned it to hard way where I woke up in the morning in grave pain.

Most exercises lying on your back suck.....

Heavy barbell lifting is the best... squat and deadlifts.

Along with that other good stuff is L-sits, hanging leg raises, RKC planks, and ab wheel.
