No vid this time. Definitely gonna get a vid for when I clean 137kg (300lb) whenever that is.

Sitting at 90kg atm... going to compete in July or August at 85kg. I need a 245kg total to qualify for Canadian nationals.

decaf you're going to the Arnold right? What's the total you're looking to hit at the meet?

Yup.
Opening total is 290 which means I have to hit at least 125/145 (pretty much automatic for me) I'm going to try to open around 130/155 and shoot for at least a 300 total.
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Grats on the lift entropic! How much do you jerk?

I just stumbled across this video on youtube.
I have never seen such an easy jerk, it looks like theres no weight on the bar lol.

Domestic competition... He didn't show up for his weigh in at the Olympics.. I'm going to guess this isn't a clean lift. Bloody impressive though.
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

What international level athlete is clean? In any sport - never mind the lifters.

FS 137 today! 300lbs! 9kg PR. =) Wasn't all that hard either, but since I'm only going to front squat for the next few weeks (peaking to comp), I have lots of time to push it higher and higher.

In fact... I haven't maxed in back squat in like half a year.. I might actually beat my best back squat with front squat in the next three weeks, lol (145, I suck at back squat).

And Ivanov is like definition of brute power... No belt, sleeves, or anything and a frigging power jerk. He also looks like a damn gladiator.
WeMade FOX would be a deadly SC2 team.

Well at least at the Olympics and International comps you can be pretty sure they're clean at the time of the lifts even if they don't train that way.

Took a side view of a 160 clean (failed jerk) so I could check out the bar path. Turned out to be one of my best heavy cleans(except my 150 cj before i absolutely crushed out of nowhere) and I already front squatted 180.



Looks pretty good to me, ill run it through kinovea when I get the chance. Since I changed my catch/rack position I'm finishing more vertical, keeping the bar closer, and bouncing out of the whole better (I've never one bounced 160 before)

Curious to see! That squat jerk was just looking a bit too inconsistent at max weights.

Hi newbie here I want to start olympic weight lifting and I read through the op and some of the pages. I have some questions. 1) could you do the given program as a 3 day on, 1 day off routine? (I don't like only training only 3 days a week) 2) Is there any way someone could point me in the right direction for finding someone who teaches the lifts in northeast PA? 3) im probably just being a dummy, but I really dont understand what my rep ranges and sets are supposed to be for this type of lifting.

*Im not a complete beginner to weight lifting, but I have never done any type of olympic style lifting. Im pretty sure the only exercises I've done consistently in the OP's routine are push press and back squat.

Snatch 110kg

Yes get a coach from the beginning so you learn efficient technique from the start. Both decaf and DimSum are east coast so they should know some good coaches in PA.

About training frequency... since you've already been strength training, you can train pretty frequently. I would say even 6 days a week if you can since in the beginning the weights you will be doing will not be very high due to focusing on proper technique.

It's ok. I will email them when the info is actually up and if I can't then I will fly there and guilt trip 'em!

Thanks for responding so fast! I live between Scranton and Wilkes-barre. My training so far has been mostly with body building type routines. Usually a 5 day split. I have been lifting consistently for about 4 years. I did do starting strength but it wasn't my favorite program. I would say that I have a bit higher than intermediate level of strength based off these charts http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/StrengthStandards.html

It doesnt look like there are any places in my area Would you recommend I do the program in your OP, or would a different one be more suitable?

There's about four crossfit in the area you can see if any of them specialize in olympic lifting. And Entropic I'm in the Midwest! (parents by dc though) dimsum might know some though

hmm thats pretty far from any east coast gold gym. As decaf said, you might need to look for a crossfit gym.

I just looked at crossfit scranton and Wilkes-barre. Both doesnt seem to have oly weightlifting set up. i'll look some more tomorrow
