Is it normal for your lower back to be tensed and curved at the spine after squats? Like when i arch my back backwards after squats i get this weird feeling in my lower back and when i checked in the mirror it was curved(?) inwards and tensed/hard when i felt it. And no it doesnt hurt at all. Is it because i am going too low on my squats? (below parallel)

bought myself today this: + Show Spoiler +
Squating was much better, just felt good also i tried it with powercleans, and those were quite good also 3-3-3-3-3 62.5kg was so easy, last time i did pc-s 3-3-3-3-3x60kg was a fail :D
Squat: 80kg 5-5-5-5-5 Benchpress 57.5kg 5-5-5-5-5 Pclean: 62.5kg 3-3-3-3-3 Number are getting normal allready , from weak that i was now i feel a bit stronger.

belts are such a crutch for your core inimenesc, esp at those lift numbers.. you dont need it at all

today was fun when I walked into the gym I saw there were 110kgs loaded up on the bench. I looked around to see who was gonna lift that, and saw no one that I figured could do it. so I figured someone must have left the weights on the bar and then left or something. not so. shortly after, a skinny kid lies down on the bench. I thought to myself "wow if THIS kid can bench 110kg i'm gonna cry" because I cant even do 100 but then my mind was put at ease. the guy unracked the bar, lowered it by like 10cm and pushed it up again. for one rep. yeah, way to go champ! I bet hes bragging about his sick bench press to all his friends lol.
went on to do 75kg c&j (PR) and 102.5kg 3x3 front squats (PR). manly!

tried looking cant find it, fuck this 8000 post thread already (or maybe it was the op stuff lol idc)
I don't ever recall seeing that, and I'm pretty sure that's not true.
While biphasic sleep can be used effectively (e.g. siesta) there's a reason why most other cultures are on monophasic sleep patterns

You do want your back to be tight/tense during, but afterwards it should be like any other muscle loose and pliable and not feeling weird

Do people really believe that you walk into a gym one day and accidentally end up looking like Jay Cutler? It doesn't even take an explanation of testosterone, caloric, genetic, and time requirements to achieve such a physique. It really comes down to this: if you look in the mirror one day and feel like you're too big, just back off on the intensity/calories a little bit. To me it just feels like an excuse they make so they can subconsciously not feel guilty about not putting any effort into working out. Same goes for guys who see me deadlifting 150kg and go "nah man I don't wanna get huge I just wanna get toned." I don't even give a shit anymore.

@inimenesc: For all we know so far, you are a 2metres 95kg guy, able to run more than 30km and doing lots of skiing, plus starting to lift some heavy ass shit. You seem pretty badass, I demand a video or some pictures, I wanna see you in all your glory
|
i skii more than 30km, run 30km? death awaits I think 20-25km under 2.5h maybe running. 36km is my skiing :D (i think after holidays, i will try my promised 75km skiing run, i allready did 50km and it felt like benching 20kg :D)
Actualy i look like a normal guy, nto a badass at all. I dont have any camera or videocamera :/ btu when i go to holidays in august maybe my friends will get a picture of me :D
-e- and i am 92kg now, losing some weight after i started to watch what i eat, also i aint using right now any extra protein powders, will get professional advice from a know estonian bodybuilder in august when i finally start to use them, he works in a shop that sell that stuff and i am going to aim my timing to that shop

A crutch is something you lean on - something you need to use to support yourself, because you can't accomplish an activity otherwise. People with a broken leg might use them to help walking. People with a weak core might call a belt a "crutch" for squatting and deadlifting.
What snapple was saying is that, with the weights you're at, while it might feel better to use the belt (because the belt takes some of the pressure away from your core muscles, lending them support) it's still not something you should be doing - at these weights, which are still pretty low in the grand scheme of things, you should be trying to strengthen those muscles, and then when they can no longer really get stronger (you're squatting 200kg) you might think about using a belt.

I keep going on and off whenever I decide I'm going to be healthy in diet/exercise. Really sad T_T... I know it's a motivational thing but whenever I'm on vacation, any sort of dietary or exercise regime goes out the window, and then when I'm home I notice/am slightly disappointed at the visible change.
|
vacations are for letting go
it'd be nice to work out and eat well while on vacations, but most of the time, it's unrealistic to maintain the same rigid regimes as you would at home (e.g. when I was in China, it was almost impossible to not eat grains and rice)

While this is true, I think hazelynut is implying a little more than just some issues two weeks out of the year.
