Spain colonized the Philippines and had control of them until the Spanish American war when the US took over. I suppose it would make sense for a Euro to have this blind spot, because y'all probably aren't as aware of weird end of the 19th century American jingoism. Magellan landed there in 1521 looking for a westward route to the spice islands for Spain and claimed the Philippines in the name of the Spanish crown, and by 1565 the Spanish had started settling there. Which by EU4 standards would be ridiculously early for a European power. That McDonalds being so architecturally interesting weirds me out. I was playing HOI4 as Italy on normal (no DLCs). Had kicked the Allies out of Africa, destroyed the British fleet except their convoys (which I was slowly eroding by torpedoing them with planes), stalemated the western front (German AI surprisingly kept destroying the Allied invasions, although I was assisting heavily sniping convoy fleets and navies), and had even started dragging the Eastern front forward with massive heavy tank and self propelled heavy artillery 40 combat width divisions. And then Germany flipped to Socialist in October 1944 and immediately joined the Allies, and completely screwed me on the eastern front. Lost like 8 hours of work to that. -.- Probably should have just done Italy first. The AI is annoyingly undependable. I have no idea how the AI botched Barbarossa so badly, it was a stalemate from day 1 except where I advanced. Hard to build a navy, airforce, and army as Italy at the same time. But even still, I was going to grind it out slowly. Arrrgh. -.- | ||

- Other devices like my phone are registering 30Mbps but my computer is sometimes as low as 2Mbps (same speedtest within a minute of each other). - This is over wifi, I have not tested an ethernet cable because I don't have one long enough for my current arrangement. - I have replaced my wifi adapter since the previous one was fairly old with no improvement. - I have looked through my processes for something like AMD Quick Stream but don't have anything that sticks out as messing with my bandwidth. - I also disabled Windows autotune and that possibly bumped it up to 8-10Mbps but over the last week it's felt like the speed fluctuates between 1 and 12 anyway. A game will be perfectly playable and then abysmal. I guess when that slow speed hits I can see if something is taking up CPU? I'm not the most tech savvy so any pointers would be appreciated. | ||

Make sure that you don't have something between your router and the computer in question that could interfere with the wifi signal. If your computer is too far away or the signal loses strength, consider something that boosts the wifi signal as an intermediary, or buy a really, really long ethernet cable and run it along the ceiling lmao | ||

You could use something like HWinfo or some such to watch your DL and UL amounts, and if the speed slowing down coincides with weird periods of a lot of traffic going to/from the computer that would be related. It could be something in the router QoS settings. It could also be a bug in your WiFi card, a physical problem with the antenna, or something between the computer and router fucking with the signal. You'll never rule this one out without trying Ethernet. | ||

I think the funniest thing about this SGDQ is that someone I know on another forum saw that it had made $200k in its first 24 hours and was all like, "Man, this SGDQ is doing poorly". It was laughable at the time, but even moreso considering the result. | ||

It’s like 10% Day 1, 40% up until Friday afternoon, then the last 50% PRETTY consistently. | ||
