Tried messing with some dark shades of green on their weapons? With that vibrant of a color you could do some pretty sexy lighting.

Ya the major performance hit was always going to be more focused on the enterprise level, they even specifically mentioned cloud based operations in the article I read, so streaming services gonna get hit hard. Conspiracy theories out the wazoo about how intel has known about this for the full decade but got paid by DoD and NSA to keep their mouths shut so they could use it as a spy tool.

Either paid, or threatened :p Didn't the last tech company ceo who refused to comply with NSA get himself audited to hell and back until they found something edit: found this guy at least Joseph P. Nacchio (born June 22, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American executive who was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Qwest Communications International from 1997 to 2002. He was convicted of 19 counts of insider trading in Qwest stock on April 19, 2007[1] – charges his defense team claimed were U.S. government retaliation for his refusal to give customer data to the National Security Agency in February, 2001.[2] This defense was not admissible in court because the U.S. Department of Justice filed an in limine motion,[3] which is often used in national security cases, to exclude information which may reveal state secrets. Information from the Classified Information Procedures Act hearings in Mr. DiNaccio's case was likewise ruled inadmissible.[4] On July 27, 2007, he was sentenced to six years in federal prison, and after appeals failed he reported to Federal Correctional Institution, Schuylkill in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania on April 14, 2009 to serve his sentence.[5] Nacchio finished serving his sentence on September 20, 2013.[6]

It wouldn't surprise me if the DOD and NSA figured it out on their own much earlier. Their dominant position is also a reason AMD doesn't escape this unscathed, because as I mentioned above AMD(and individual developers) have to do work to exclude AMD devices from the patch fixes(which are happening at the OS level), which is almost certainly because Intel has such a massive portion of enterprise marketshare that fixing it for intel chips the quickest/most effective way, AMD collateral be damned, is what happened. And ya KD I guess saying conspiracy theory brings up notions of crazy people but these seem somewhat well founded, especially when considering other NSA related stories we've gotten in recent times. It's totally believable(although I have seen some people take it pretty damn far, but the base story of "let us design some hacker tools off the back of this and use them for a few years, you can also design a patch while it happens at the same time, win/win, fuck us over and you go to prison ok" seems totally in line with other government things that have absolutely happened before).

Here's a list of what falls under each label: 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors: Sandy Bridge 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors: Ivy Bridge 4th generation Intel® Core™ processors: Haswell 5th generation Intel® Core™ processors: Broadwell 6th generation Intel® Core™ processors: Skylake 7th generation Intel® Core™ processors: Kaby Lake 8th generation Intel® Core™ processors: I assume Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake (Cannon Lake isn't out yet.. so they should fix the issue by then? No guarantee though. Maybe this is why Cannon Lake was delayed until 2018, was supposed to be out in 2016 originally) Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core

Or do all of the later generations just fall under "Intel Core processor" namesakes even though they're i3-5-7-9? It looks like they're literally all affected. Any intel processor I've ever used or considered using is on that list.

Man shit do I refund my Coffee Lake while it's still in the period I could send it back no questions and go for a Ryzen? I know the performance hit for gaming looks to actually be negligible but at this point it's almost more about supporting AMD than worrying about some FPS.
