Though in this regard I have to give credit to Bioware for breaking away from their cookie-cutter design somewhat in Mass Effect 2, and honestly I think the game is better than the first one for it (I still have had not had the chance to play 3).

My old PC couldn't handle Witcher 2 so didn't buy it but now been thinking of getting it just not sure if I should wait for a sale or just grab it on steam.

First instinct? Bastion I think is well-written, but that's an easy go-to (and I still could be wrong). I wonder if FFT: WotL is actually well-written or it just has a good story. I'd have to play it again.

Yeah, this is where this discussion is going to start to get hairy. While there are some stories that will universally be considered "good" or even "great" (personally I think Bastion falls there, btw), now we're going to get into the territory of opinion. I keep shilling 999 and Virtue's Last Reward, but people are going to say those are VNs and don't count. One might say Katawa Shoujo, but we've seen where those discussions lead. Final Fantasy games, even within the FF fandom, are points of dissension. I personally really enjoyed Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm's campaigns (not as much as BW, ofc), but I know that may be an unpopular opinion. So I'm probably going to not join into this discussion too much :D

The plot/gameplay of BG2, KotOR, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect are all fundamentally the same, just transplanted into different gameplay systems/campaign settings. Though in this regard I have to give credit to Bioware for breaking away from their cookie-cutter design somewhat in Mass Effect 2, and honestly I think the game is better than the first one for it (I still have had not had the chance to play 3). Mass Effect 2 is the best game. 3 is fun but they just couldn't live up to the promises they laid out in the first two games. Even disregarding the ending, the big choices really didn't end up mattering that much.

Althouh if I were writing the story I would make it a bit different. + Show Spoiler + the first encounter Lyon would trick Eirikia to give up the Sacred Stone. The second encounter Eirika gets tricked again. Lyon tries kill her, Seth blocks the attack and dies. Eirika is enraged and tries to kill Lyon and almost suceeds. Lyon escapes. The demon in Lyon takes total control of him after the wound Eirika inflicted. Eirika encounters him a final time to clash with him to save the world as well as for personal revenge. Eirika suceeds this time to release the demon from Lyon's body. What is left is the demon's shell. Eirika knows the pain and death the demon has inflicted onto this world and vows to stop him at all cost. <insert epic battle here>. Eirika stabs the demon in his heart with her Sacred blade, but the Demon draws his last breath to blast miasma at her, rendering her permanently blind for the rest of her life. Peace is restored, but at what cost? You'd have to rewrite the entire story just to make Eirika an interesting character imo I actually like the story of FE:SS and how it's focused mostly on Lyon's inner struggles about what is right and just how much can one afford to sacrifice for power it's just the side characters seem really bland even with their support convos which oftentimes just reinforce what we already know about them, at least that's what it feels like to me

Well I don't think Bastion is a particularly great story. It's just executed in a very unique and interesting style which I think is good writing.

I'd need to replay Bastion to evaluate the writing, mostly because however good the writing is, it's outshone by how amazing the delivery is, and any memory I have right now of how well written the lines are is biased by how well every line was delivered by the narrator. I don't know why this suddenly became an issue for people NOW. If you were gonna complain about fake choices, why didn't they bother people in the first game?
