I'll try some more Dark Souls tomorrow, maybe something else, I don't know. Kinda salty about some of those deaths, but it happens when you're rusty. I might play some off stream since I want to farm some titenite/souls, and those are boring. You were streaming concurrently with dandel, sorry bro, HS>DS. HS < DS, but I see how it is. Fair warning though, it might turn into a doto stream, with my crappy self and my almost equally bad friends lol. It's k! I'm getting bored of grinding yoloque in Doto. We should que together :D, 3.5k elo ezpz solo ques. I cant even play ranked mm yet >.> I really need to play enough to hit 13 lol, especially with the 500% boost I have <.< Is k, we teech u. With "love" and "niceness".

Please, I'm an ass, and my friends are assholes as well, I'm also the support of my friends, so I am used to being a bitch. Just don't ask me to play Visage, game is hard.

We need to take you to micro school. We make you learn to go on adventures with Lone Druid and Lone Druid Junior. Bear goes where he wants with his 2700 hp pool at 5 minutes and doesn't afraid of anything.
Either that or make you play Starcraft.

Also, 5 fireball mage is beaten by 6 swipe druid. lolololo

I haven't played SC since season 1 of WoL, when Protoss was so bullshit I could 4gate and beat whoever, almost. At least in PvT and sometimes in PvP, PvZ I just made like 14 sentries and laughed as they couldn't do anything due to forcefields.

Fire Emblems pisses me off. Every chapter I lose a unit once because some random enemy show up from the shadows and kill one of my unit.
I managed a really good track record of no death until chapter 18, but then I can't take it anymore and decided to let that guy with no eyes die. Fuck it all.
Sorry for QQ. This game is so punishing.

Never thought I'd intentionaly Faceless a Southsea Deckhand.

But yeah I agree, Fire Emblem is probably one of the most punishing games that I have ever played.

I am playing the one on GBA. Some people mentioned this is FE 7.
The one with Lyndis.

They added a casual mode in Awakening, but I refuse to use it. If I fuck up and get my guys killed, I reset the chapter. Granted, Donnel, Chrome, Chereche, and Virion can handle most enemies without any problem.
Oh, 7 is pretty hard, yeah. I can't remember which character you're talking about though, in Eliwood's story?
|
I can't recall his name, but he is the cavalier in Eliwood's story. The one whose eyes are covered by his green hair. He is the only person I lost so far.
I think I am OK though. I still got plenty of these horse riders left.

I think FE uses permadeath pretty poorly. The nature of the game is such that permadeath is so punishing on your game (particularly when you're missing support convos and recruitment opportunities because you don't have the character) that losing anyone is tantamount to a game over. Letting someone die is a part of the game that such a small portion of the player base will actually encounter because as far as I know, everyone just resets on deaths.

Exactly. While I think losing a couple of units may seem OK on the surface (especially with my overabundance of sword users), I noticed that sometimes a simple choice can have huge consequences many stages later.
One such case I encountered is:
+ Show Spoiler + 1. Getting Priscilla by rushing to that town. 2. Recruit Raven using Priscilla (he seems useless though). 3. Getting Lucius with Raven.
The worst part is that I could talk to Lucius with Lyn. Lyn would say something VERY MISLEADING like "I don't need you to fight now, Lucius", implying Lucius would join the party later. Two stages later I realized she wouldn't join, so I replayed that stage, got Raven, then got Lucius too.
I think it's worth it, since Lucius seems like the only one who can use light magic so far. I am sure she'll be pretty useful. But still, I am not happy how much work I put in this to get to this point.

I only reset for characters I give a shit about.
But in general the people you lose are just due to not knowing the adds spawns, it's relatively easy to plan around what you're already seeing otherwise.
So resetting for chapters seems to me like something people do instead of doing another playthrough of the game. Same principle really - you do the same thing over again only better because you know the stuff now. Restarting a chapter is just less work overall so it's more attractive.

But still it's frustrating when my Pegasus Knight die to an axe bandit because - lord behold - the bandit decided to attack twice.
Also it's hard to say whether or not I should just move on. Fliers seem pretty weak in this game, but the fact that they can cross a lot of obstacles is very useful.

pegasus knights are all weaklings anyway they dont deserve to live.

But she is so moe~

The bandit attacks twice because you gave Florina (poor Constitution) a weapon too heavy, probably a steel spear/lance or something. Also Lucius is a "he".
And permadeath says Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume to me.
Slept badly, 4h under my belt, full day of work, dentist puts so much anaesthetic in my jaw closing my left eye is hard 'cause the skin below is stiff, then I go to a concert see two friends, one of them who was moping and there to get answers from her ex get back with him and they spend the rest of the evening making up which, while good for her, makes me question spending that much time for someone I think may need support for nothing when I'm that tired. Bed, heed my call!

Lucius is the bee's knees. The only thing that set him back for me was his low caps for his Bishop class. Other than that he will bear maul everything. Raven is supposed to be good, but mine turned out terrible. Terrible as in 13 strength for a level 5 Hero terrible.
Also fliers are good if you have the patience to raise them to decent levels. Of course that being said, I'll be the first to admit that it is a pain to actually level them up for the first few levels. Late game especially though, if you took good care of your fliers and leveled them up, they will eat alive any magic user no problem.
Edit: And by fliers I mean Pegasus Knights. Heath was good for me from the get-go.
