They dun goofed on a 12 month project and gave the customer half completed shit that I'm having to clean up now. Customer came back for damage for 75% of what the project was worth.

I managed to reconnect after turning off stream. Warrior got himself up to 46 health with the help of armorsmith...came down to topdeck wars in the end and I won. Stream's back up if anyone cares.
Edit: Also thanks Frudgey, I tend to get the voice compliment a lot. <3

From the scope of the project it seemed like lack of knowledge/management. 38 lanes x 4 computers, plus 8 servers isn't a lot to configure over the course of 12 months for 8 people. Most of them don't even know where to find the log files they helped created through the programs on their own servers.
There were some mistakes for sure, but most of that doesn't come from lack of knowledge I don't think. These guys aren't exactly young, most of them are well into their 40s.

So they done fucked up. Sounds like career ending mistake.

Nah. Demand for devs is pretty high right now. I don't go more than a couple days at a time without someone offering me a job. Even with your head up your ass there are enough people looking to throw money at anyone that can code I can't really imagine a scenario where someone with any kind of resume/portfolio is out of work very long...

Depends on history. You need references, and if they were at that company a long time and can't get a good reference from it, it'll be problematic.
I mean, I'm sleeping because it's 1. zzz

Anyone know SQL and want to move to Texas? <3 Depends how much does it pay? Couldn't tell you, but these guys all live in the 100k + housing area in houston so.... Not enough that they'd pay me to move to Texas and hire me on my qualifications, unfortunately. lol
But at least it'd be in Houstan so I'd be away from the Cowboy fans. :D

On April 25 2014 14:53 Cixah wrote:Someone Explain mafia to me. I feel completely clueless even reading the General Guide in the TL Mafia Thread There is a town of players that, under normal circumstances in a normal game, consists of actual Town players who are attempting to lynch Mafia in an effort to clean up the town. Every player in the game has a vote, and every "day" players are allowed to vote to lynch (kill/remove) a player. Usually, the player with the most votes on him at the end of the "day" (48 hours) is lynched, and the game moves to a night phase that is half as long. During the night, mafia players decide who to kill (often 1-2 players per night in a smallish game).
There are roles that have the ability to affect mafia's kills, town roles that can kill at night, investigative roles that give town more information about what happened at night, or cop/detective roles that reveal the alignment of a chosen player each night to the cop. There's also some metagame to these roles, with the ability to block the actions of some of them, and mess with the investigative roles' power.
The goal of the game for town is to lynch all the mafia. Mafia often only has to reduce town to a point where town no longer controls the lynch (mafia = town in number) to win. Usually, the ratio of mafia to town is 1 to ~3. Mafia also has the ability to communicate in secret throughout the game to coordinate their abilities (collectively called night actions).
It boils down to an informed minority vs. an uninformed majority. It's an amazingly fun game if you have a lot of time to sink into it, and I would be more than happy to explain things in greater detail should you be interested.

I am so shit at this game. I wish more of you guys were watching ( I suppose I could link it here) but my final draft with Warlock I feel like 2/3 of my losses were completely out of my control. Obviously you can bring it back to drafting issues, but am I really THAT horrible that I draft AND play so poorly every time that I can't get above 4 wins on average. I guess maybe I am. Here's the link I suppose if anyone wants to sift through and watch the second half of my games (after I d/ced).
http://www.twitch.tv/waveofshadow/b/522850876 Like...my warlock v hunter game where I go 0-1, and then my final loss. What was I really to do there? 'Draft better?' Lifetap even less? (Too many imps mebbe?)
I just don't know guys.
Also hai yamato, didn't know you lurked in here. And yeah Cixah you should totally play with us.

I more than likely will start playing some. It's not like I don't have infinity hours squared to post from work.

And yeah Cixah you should totally play with us. If you don't want to get buttfrustrated and sad, a really good place to start is to just take Trump's Arena Tier List from LiquidHearth and use that for drafting, so that you can focus your play more on actually playing instead of just the draft.
The combination of drafting and playing means sometimes your hand is just cards you have no use for or can't play, and so it just seems like the opponent has a much superior draft, because you can directly see his moves that threaten you, but it's hard to see the moves you could have had if you drafted a few cards differently or played differently 2 turns prior.
Also sometimes you're just fucked because they have straight up better cards, but even then playing with ~value~ in mind ensures that you have the greatest chance of being able to topdeck to victory.
|
I'm fairly sure I know which cards are supposed to be good/not good according to that list. I never drafted a goldshire footman, for example. There are grey areas where you get class cards and what not, and then regarding mana curve, and even a tier list can't help with that.
I think overall though my draft-fu is probably pretty weak mostly because I'm not sure I understand when you go for curve or ignore it, when to draft high value cards/spells despite the curve, when to try and pick combo-style (overload, beasts, etc).
The one thing I do feel I have a good grasp of is which cards are considered to be good or bad on their own, it's in context with the entire deck as I draft it that I have problems.
Also I hope I didn't come across as overly sensitive or whatever to you guys. I appreciate you hanging out in chat whether it's to make fun of me, yell at me, help me, or whatever. If I'm frustrated at anything it's simply with myself and my overall bad-ness that I'm sort of trying to fix and failing apparently.
