And the end shoved j-pop to your ears to try and distract you from the fact that Cloud went from a mentally unstable guy who grew up a loser, failed to reach his current life goal and dealt with his successful (and more importantly, only) friend by hijacking his identity and pretending to be all he didn't manage to, to the brave friend and victim a bit shaken by stuff going over his head and uplifting his friend's legacy at his express behest (not like FF VII's Cloud wasn't like that till the uplifting part, either). That scene was good and powerful with implications in the original game, and in the remake it's Zack the tragic munchkin andd Cloud the dark horse.

Crisis Core is the best part of VII as far as narrative goes and it's still pretty bad. I'm also still salty about the fact that you can literally MISS those big scenes with Zack if you don't go back at the right time.

Crisis Core changes that to make him a honest guy who only wanted to fulfill his promise to a dying friend, and got a bit eager along the way because he was still in shock, don't blame him! Which I dislike. Fuck trying to justify everything, sometimes characters aren't all nice and perfect and you've got to admit "yeah, that guy's a nutcase/total dick. Can't help it". Then again my other pet peeve is trying to make characters badass anti-heroes and telling you "oooh, look at that badass you doesn't give a fuck and does what he wants while cracking retorts and impressing everyone, you better think he's the coolest guy ever you dimwit!" Looking at stuff like The Witcher, etc. @Asmo: 'k, I thought you were talking about the game, not the events. There could have been some good stuff to do with Vincent too, but all the same it's pretty damn well-hidden and they preferred to turn him into some dark emo vampire guy and make it even worse in the spin-off games. ('was my favourite character when I played the game though. Shame on me. But I was a teenager D: ) TL;DR: I need to use TL;DRs again.
