I'll probably be the only one, but I'm going to say no. It's not really worth it for what they are offering for me. On the other hand, D3 is only 20$ right now, and with the 40$ expansion, you are still paying the same as release d3. In that sense, if you never bought the initial release, and want to play with everyone, you can probably enjoy the bursts of activity you'll get around this time. So, it's a yes for new players I think. 1.) The drops are almost definitely improved. Usually legendaries ARE actually an upgrade unlike what they were before(which was that they were majorly shit. it was ridiculous). The improvement in the game is definitely noted. The fact that I'm paying 40$ more for what I felt I should have gotten in the initial release of D3 is the problem for me. It's not even that much money honestly, but release diablo 3 sucked hard. I'd rather just wait a couple of months, and see how I feel then. I don't know how long the game will keep my attention. 2.) I know the story for D2 wasn't really the selling point, but I don't think the story is all that good from Act 1-4 for D3. For some reason, I feel the story is pretty disjointed in D3. 3.) The dungeons all suck in diversity compared to D2(or at least that's what it especially feels like to me). Everything has the same basic layout, and you cannot really get lost in much of the environment due to a sense of "I've been here before". Basically, no matter what act you are playing, you will eventually see the same types of monsters repeating(even though it doesn't really matter). You will also start recognizing dungeon patterns. I also recall their being hype for "environment" destruction in D3 before release. That boils down to breaking vases for lucky legendaries/gold at the moment. Environment destruction means nothing, and there has been nothing to indicate it will be any different for the expansion.

I think it's been a point of discussion in the development, more than one time in D2 you'd almost despair when you'd not find the next zone. Softcore it is for me. I think softcore is fine, I can go HAM and still only rarely die, because of stupid good combos, which is the worst way to die in HC aside from lagg anyway.

With a Barb as my first 60, I actually liked the feeling of progression from slowly advancing through Inferno. Even though it was hard, it was all eventually doable. The problem is that the design of the game around the AH meant that loot was basically never scaled for you to feasibly self-find your way through Inferno--meaning that you were basically jumping from exploit to exploit and spending hours flipping items on the AH (A2 Goblin, A3 Resplendent Chest, A4 Aspects, etc.). That was the point where it stopped being fun for me. Blizzard also short themselves in the foot because while Barbarian had a slow but smooth progression through the difficulties in release Inferno, Wizard and DH all had game-breaking exploits within the first week that put a disproportionate number of them into the later parts of the game resulting in a lot of whine over the difficulty of Inferno because a lot of people expected it to be as easy for them as for those first few 5k HP Wizards and perma-Smokescreen DHs.

I agree completely with what you said, and its why D3 is fun for me again atm. I think one thing they could still fix is the 'account-bound' system. I get they want to prevent the need for people to create hacks and trade offsite and whatnot, but you lose a lot of the community sense that way, and while gear is definitely easier to attain, I don't see why trading should essentially be disallowed. Oh and to the people talking about SC vs HC, I think it might be evenly split actually? Nobody is really going to harp on youu for wanting to go SC, I think us HC-ers just like that extra little bit of thrill, and having to worry about when to prioritize survivability a little more when farming and whatnot.

I actually believe with loot 2.0, there is very little danger of dying even in HC. The item progression is quite good currently. So I'd say go for hc char. It's not like "im so invincible with loot 2.0 that nothing will kill me", but it has made hc a lot more interesting to play

Watching GoRush and Yellow again is tight, but the matches were really exciting (Ace Match in particular).

SC4lyfe (all my non-TL pals play on it, and that's really what matters) But really I have so much fun with the game now that the loot is fun and cool to get and the skills are revamped. Will be looking forward to many of the new RoS features, including new and beautiful class (I love new classes in things)

It's not like we got TL LoL threads for Pokemon, Hearthstone, or Bravely Default. They'd be just as inactive by now as the TL LoL DotA 2 and Smite threads, lol.
