Another year has gone by full of StarCraft 2 competition - including many WardiTV events which have been building up to the WardiTV 2023 Championship. Our goal throughout the year has been to make tournaments accessible to as many players as possible, with the promise of a grand event at the end of it all rewarding those who have performed well and consistently in WardiTV tournaments. This years WardiTV 2023 Championship will feature 30 players and where the players begin in the tournament depends on their seed from the WardiTV 2023 Standings. 10 players will start in the seeding matches, which guarantees them a place in the Winner Bracket (where they start depends on how their seeding matches go!) The next 15 players from the WardiTV standings (6 from EU, 5 from KR, 4 from rest of world) will enter the group stages, where they are joined by 5 additional players from the open qualifiers. All 30 players will walk away with some chunk of the $15,000 prize pool, which we have been able to raise above the expected $10k due to the generous sponsorship by Crate Entertainment, the developers of Grim Dawn. They are passionate RTS supporters and were also a big reason we were able to run such succesful monthly open cups throughout the WardiTV 2023 Circuit. Wow 15k? That's crazy. Is that your biggest prize pool ever? Hype, hope Maru and Serral sign up for qualifiers.
|
$15k? Holy. Like the prize distribution too!
SO many Protoss. Now it seems like Zerg is the extinct one haha.
Excited to see Creator and everyone play!

GL HF all

HYPE thanks for the reminder

Hype! Thanks for the tourney, Wardi, you're MVP as always.

NightMare going 3-1 puts him in a good spot. I'm pretty sure he qualifies out of this group regardless of results from the other games being played, but whether he qualifies in first or second position will be determined by Gabe's performance going forwards.

Classic looks like the reverse her0/maxpax to me, online his performances havent been that great but offline he is pretty much the best toss recently i think.
|
I love watching Shin/Ragnarok win, his play style is always fun lol
GL to Creator in !

The playoffs bracket is funny - top side is TvT after TvT after TvT. Top half is 6 terrans, 2 non-terrans. Low half is 1 terran, 7 non-terrans.

I don't really care who wins Clem vs Oliveira, but I hope Gumiho beats the winner lol
|
what a crazy first game for Gumiho vs Oliveira
|
Seems like the Cyclone early game meta is getting figured out, instead of getting a whole bunch of Cyclone yourself, you get tanks and Marines with bunkers, similar to how you defend Blink Stalker opening.

yup, Olivera seemed hopeless trying to find dmg with his cyclones against Gumiho openers

Solar early game in TvZ gotten worse all of a sudden. I know its Clem but how can you not able to defend 2 Banshee and a bunch of Helions split like that, its like hes reacting 2-3 secs late to everything Clem does.

damn this series was how I hoped herO vs Oliveira would go in IEM Katowice last year

Gumiho beating other players big time but he just look hopeless against Dark.
|
Poor MaxPax PvT so rough
|
It's crazy how badly Dark always dominates Gumiho despite him being a legit threat to every other top pro. 31-3 this year in matches.

PvT has been heavily favoured T for a while now
It’s really a unforgiving matchup for toss in terms of Margin of mistakes

MaxPax literally just 3-0 Clem an hour earlier and you complain about balance? Gumiho just played a completely different aggressive style and MaxPax didnt prepare for it well, against the 2-base Mech all-in and the 1-base all-in, hell Gumiho was doing a proxy and could have won game 3 if MaxPax didnt scout it.

Oof that’s crazy, I wonder what other hugely lopsided rivalries there are between players who are reasonably similar in level there are!
Bravo to everyone, players, organisers and casters for an enjoyable tourney

No, but you see? Its only a balance issue when a Korean beats an european. Otherwise is a legit top notch matchup. (Remember Maru vs Serral in MC7? Same complains)
