Maru vs Serral on a Tuesday hype?
|
Why are those first matches on Tuesday? That's both unfortunate timing and a bad lineup for onsyde. Crank said in a video released today that Maru's sick currently to the point he couldn't do an interview. Considering he just went 0-3 to DRG these will probably be some very one sided games :/ I hope he proves me wrong.

Only explanation is conflicts with ESL Europe playoffs.

Sunday is the Regional final, and Serral/Reynor will likely both play there, so the the shift kinda make sense, but why not make it on Monday next week though, I wonder (screw open cup).

Maybe the worst possible matchups for Onsyde? I hope they win anyways but that's tough

Presumably scboy, onsyde and basilisk discussed it (also SR and PH, in case it was imperative to have two.matches on the same day) and this is what worked best for them? In general it seems WTL has worked hard to get the teams' perspective in scheduling. I can't help with the "why", but I'm happy to give the organizers the benefit of the doubt that this is the best schedule they could come up with.

I find it hilarious that there are people who think Maru vs Serral is anything but a one-sided matchup. Clem must have double of Maru's recent winrate against Serral

I want him to play that kind of lategame from now on, I know its stressing to his wrist, but we need to see more of that.

While not exactly the same that game reminded me of the way Maru played vs Reynor at WCG 2019. I always wondered why he didn't go lib heavy in more lategames. Such a cool style and he always looks fantastic with it.

How did Maru take a game off Serral? Is he back in shape?
Congrats Ryung as well, Onsyde still the best team it seems like

Yeah, he did play like in his best form for months. Was straight up macro game with good fight, not getting demolished by Burrow Fungal and eventually tech up to mass Libs against Hydra Lurker. Both games played out the same way, with the difference being Serral was able to hit Maru army with Fungal a couple time in game 1 and wiped him out.

I think the main difference was that Serral went corruptors against the mass liberators in the first game, but attempted to rely only on hydras in the second game.
Anyway, great games. This was the first competitive match by Maru against Serral in a long time.

Good thing I got the preview out in time, that way Maru had some extra motivation to screw it up.

Its easier to get Corruptor out when Zerg open with Muta and already got 2-3 upgrade when the switch happen. And I still believe that the fungal was the difference, as long as no big Fungal hit then Terran still trade favorably against Zerg with Corruptors.

Strange popping up again this week and bring playoff hope to MYG.

MYG is favored to make the playoffs at this point barring another meltdown like in the early season.
MYG probably gets 3 points from SSLT and the Freecs. Meanwhile SLT will probably beat the Freecs but will be hard pressed to get any points against SR or TL. That would put both teams at 14 points, so unless PH beats MYG without an ace match SLT probably gets shut out.
Quite the turnaround, though I guess their early schedule was difficult.

Happy for Strange getting another 2 map wins for Mystery Gaming. He had a rough start to the season.

My gut feeling at this point about the final ranking of the regular season would be: Onsyde > Basilisk > DKZ > SR > TL > PsiStorm > MYG.
I just dont know if SR can get more than 3pts in their last 3 weeks, and DKZ will catch them. TL has to play Onsyde and DKZ so its also tough for them to get more lots of pts. PsiStorm already falling down to 6th and their closing schedule is also tough, I dont think they will move up. And yes, I hope Mystery will get into the playoff as well, they have a good shot at moving up in the playoff bracket, aka they can beat PsiStorm in round 1.
