Players are limited to two pauses per map. A pause can last no longer than five minutes. The reason for the pause has to be communicated to the referee in-game (combined in total 10mins). Admins have the power to issue pauses on their own at their own discretion. Players are not allowed to leave their PCs during the pauses (we can check this).
So there doesn't seem to be any particular reason needed to ask for a pause? I would guess it would come under the general discretionary power of the admins, but as far as this is in concern I don't see any reason you couldn't pause after let's say realizing you are getting proxy-void ray to review your notes and what not.
The way it is written it would seem pauses are permitted if the admin accepts the player's reason. OP admins
To be in contention for 4th or 5th best Korean Zerg feels like such a backhanded compliment since after soO retired there's only 6 Korean Zerg progamers.

As an aside I'm not convinced that players have things like notes about proxy-void rays that they'd like to consult mid-game. If they really need to consult their notes then they probably will botch the hold. Stuff like notes about overlord scouting paths would be reviewed before the game.

Y'a probably, on the subject of pauses, does anyone know if herO plan to comeback to SC2 after his military?

I hadn't even realised that. That is so depressing.

Leenock's military service is close to done, if that's any consolation.

It's nice, and I guess no other Zerg is close to the military. Rogue is 1994 and they don't have to go for a few years, going now would just be bonkers nobody would do that amirite

Heh.
But jokes aside TY does sound like he has a solid reasoning if auxiliary police is really that much more gamer-friendly than regular military service.

That is true enough but I do question how much of a starcraft scene there will be to come back to. Seems very unlikely that GSL will still be going in 2023. So I guess he's aiming for BW.
