The wizards in our mapmaking community are hard at work poring over their scrolls and mixing their potions to concoct the most amazing and downright ridiculous maps they can dream up. That's right - Mapper's Delight is back!
This time, we're opening the tournament up to the public, with a $100 prize pool and a full week to prepare. The pool of 7 insane maps will be released to the client on March 15th, and the tournament will take place on Saturday, Mar 21 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
If you wanna test your mettle on this not-safe-for-TLMC pool, please register on the Challonge page and be sure to check in just before we go live.
Finally - this tournament is brought to you ad-free with no sponsors. If you'd like to contribute to the Matcherino using code "Mappers2" to guarantee this prize pool, I'd really appreciate it! This time, I've added in two stretch goals: $200 raised will guarantee Mapper's Delight #3, and if we raise $500, I'll put on a "Mapper's Deluxe" tournament - a 2-day affair with some pro-level players on stupid maps.

teleportation portals would be cool. I think it would be sweet to have a map where the corners of the map halfway between the players could be teleported across. Would not make it a rush feature but would enable some interesting mid and late game antics. like you could fake out where your going or make a quick escape through the portal. or maybe have island basses that could be reached by air or through a portal

Hell Gates: Uses 1 way walls that open a path only from one direction. Units can reach the bottom part easily but it's harder to go back up.

Hidden Resort: Water slides. Who doesn't love water slides? Fast to go down, slow to go up

Krugs' Caverns: Rocks wandering around causing havoc. Destroying them will result in smaller rocks causing havoc...

Lockout The map has 15 doors that toggle when killed. Doors have 400 HP when open, 700 when closed. Alter the pathing through the map to overtake your opponent.

Pandemonium Backdoor mineral wall, collapsible rock towers destroying rich geysers at the nat and opening up a new path to a gold base, collapsible rock towers destroying Xel'naga Watchtowers, Neon Violet style squares, rocks on top of gold minerals. The map is technically melee but is basically as crazy as a melee map can be.

Storm and Meadow Units and buildings on the map are affected by lightning strikes caused by a nearby storm. The frequency of these strikes slowly increases as the Storm Level rises (Every 4 minutes). Units affected lose vision and movement speed. The map also features tight narrow pathways all over the low-ground as parts of the map are divided with fencing and colonist housing.

A heads up for Storm and Meadow, the clouds aren't visible from the in-game camera for players but may be visible when observers zoom out using the extra zoom levels.
Happy to have my map featured in something, hope people find it interesting!

All but one of the maps are currently uploaded for the players to playtest on, they can be easily found in the Melee section of the Custom games by searching the map name or using the MD2 tag!
