So basically BasetradeTV offered us showmatches and a little tournament played by pretty good pros so we can enjoy with absolutely no obligation to donate or sub or anything, and tell us that every tip would be going to pay the staff for his personal stuff... something that EVERY streamer does. The only thing that could be better would be shifting the focus of the post from his travel to the tournaments, that's it. Everything else is not different from the other content-creators: I offer you content and games, you pay me if you feel like it. Some people... this, the whiners in this thread are so petty. pathetic bunch

If you, as a privat person, want to go to an event, you should pay with your own private money. Except of course, you work there as a content creator, player,... which isnt the case here. I literally played thousands of games in SC2, donated to some channels, etc. (all that good sc2 human bs) but should i get a free blizzcon ticket or a free trip out of it? NO. So beeing a content creator, doesnt entitle you to anything. Also, what about that "I am not BTTV, just an employee"? You are the founder dude, you arent less BTTV than Take is TakeTV. And one last, tiny detail. If you want the SC2 community to sponsor your trip, but youd rather play/watch WoW instead of SC2 global finals, you shouldnt get surprised, if the hardcore fans get pissed. It just feels "ungenuine" towards SC2. Edit: Probably should have put it at the start, but hosting showmatches, casting and all that good stuff is of course a legitimate way, to collect the money, because you work hard for it. I just dont like it, when polite questions are called whining.

Before that, people just asked, what they can expect from his blizzcon journey, even formulated it as polite as possible with smileys and stuff. And i guess, Rifkin realized, that sponsoring someones Blizzcon trip, eventhough he is a content creator, etc.. is a bit weird, which is when he started calling those legitimate questions "whining". You gave literally no follow up information. If you, as a privat person, want to go to an event, you should pay with your own private money. I just dont like it, when polite questions are called whining. Exactly! I noticed the same thing. There was no "hate" nor "hostality" whatsoever in the first quesitons that was pretty valid. And then Rifkin just couldnt handle comments that was not hyped cheering and got smug and offended etc. After that other people sighed about people being so aggressive/hostile or whatever without reading the first comments. I think the social IQ in rifkin is pretty low unfortunately (even though he (sorry basetrade) streams alot).... And people are suprised that other people get annoyed with his first post? What if Dimaga posted "i want to go to blizzcon, send me money so i can do that"... Even though he wouldnt be forcing anything on anyone, people would still react a bit negative to this begging and would make sarcastic comments, but is that hateful really?

"Could you please explain" kind of not the nicest formulation. Also the smilie at the end is at least ambiguous. Not sure exactly how it was meant, but I wouldn't interpret it nicely most of the time Also. Sure Dimaga can of course make a similar thread

Sure Dimaga can of course make a similar thread I go well out of my way to be nice and work with everyone in this community. This was no exception. I only meant to encourage BTTV to share more information because I thought it would help since Rifkin works his ass off to provide content. It was also a courteous bump to the thread so it would give the event more exposure since no one replying meant the thread would fall off the recent posts list. There was no malice intention and I wish the thread would have stayed in a positive direction. It looks like there has been a positive result for the BTTV crew and I wish them the best. :D <---- a genuine smile!!!

BD question was pretty much "dude your op sucks we know you gonna give us some juicy bits from blizzcon, come one make some better advertisment". Then the the drama...

Others sure but BD’s post? :S Was pretty innocuous and sensible. Regardless Rifkin has his deserved trip to Blizzcon anyway and as I stated multiple times in the thread I have no issue with funding a trip that way, but maybe communicate a bit better and less saltily respond to reasonable questions in the future.

Sure Dimaga can of course make a similar thread Ok, maybe you and rifkin interpret a "could you please explain" and a smiley as a full frontal hate wave toward him... And my comment about Dimaga was not regarding that he could or couldnt make a similar thread but to make a point that some people might be slightly annoyed by that kind of begging, even if there is nothing wrong to do it. A different wording from rifkin would probably have steered the first comments in a different direction and that wouldnt have forced rifking to make a (poor) response etc. Either way, fun for him now that he got the money.

can't you just have that as a goal on stream which would be easy to attain over the course of the year? i'm just confused why you would wait at this late hour ...

Of course, I agree with valid points of posters above.
