He also said that conversely Maru has the best TvP and they should match up pretty well.
Just hope it won't be a complete stomp like Dear vs Zest last year.
I think people who didn't expect Zest to take that convincingly were a teeny tiny bit biased though . Now, Dear's form seems pretty immaculate for the match-up he plays in the Ro8, which can't honestly be said for Maru. What I'm most worried about for the quality of the match is Dear having one of his unexpected-yet-expected, patented Dear derps™.
Dark should beat Bunny, Rogue vs Classic I'd favor Rogue but you never know with Rogue in the Ro8. There's a reason Ro8 has been his limit in the past. And I think Classic is one of the best players we have when it comes to planning out longer series. Not that this side of the bracket matters, because as we all know, there's never been a season of Code S where Dear and Trap were in the same side of the playoff bracket that didn't end with Dear lifting the trophy.

Yes, no matter what, this is Classic's final year as a pro before military. And his service is close enough that he wasn't allowed to go to IEM Katowice.

In the last couple of years Rogue has gotten unlucky in the ro8s. It's not like his choking/curse or whatever is having him regularly lose to weak opponents.
In 2017 he faced Stats (worlds best PvZ at the time), and soO (world's best ZvZ at the time). In 2018 he faced peak Maru (world's best player at the time). All three were seriously (and I mean seriously) tight 2-3 losses.
And in all three of those cases, had he won, I think he wins those seasons. Classic/Gumiho, sOs/INno, and Classic/Zest would have mostly been walkovers compared to who he met in the ro8s.
Then there's season 3 of last year where he played like an absolute joke and lost to Neeb (who admittedly was probably a top 3 PvZer at the time). That was concerning to say the least.

Neeb has been the number one or two PvZ for like two years in a row now.

He has been at times but never gets to show it because he loses in other matchups. I definitely think he beats Serral in at least a couple of WCS events last year had he actually faced him. Around Montreal he was straight up the better player imo.
Still, as good as Neeb played, Rogue's play was bizarre. It's like he saw Dark clowning around while beating Neeb and decided to copy him. Only Dark knew what he was doing.
Dark and Rogue easy. The other 2 are so hard to predict though... Can go either way, although I still believe Maru and TY are strong and will prevail. Dear may be to PvT this year, but so was Classic last year remember? Until Maru murdered him. Maru is unbeatable in TvP in the playoffs. I hope he shows this again this season

Arguable. Dark kills him every time.
Dark and only Dark. Weirdly so, since Dark isn't exactly unbeatable in ZvP.

Dark's style in ZvP (and in general) tends to be a bit offbeat, means there's a larger variance in how well he does vs certain players. Trap is the opposite end of the spectrum, a respectable PvZ player but a positive bonjwa at PvDark

0-8
We are at 0 fucking 8!
In an alternate universe soO is our Lord and savior.
Actually considering how far bunny has been in both games i think he's playing really well. Imagine his position if he hadn't had so much early game damage both games.
Going for king's cove's hilariously far away 3rd with hellbats was a terrible decision. Dark was like luls you are slow as shit lemme run every single drone away while you appreciate the beautiful cliffs that connect my 3rd to my natural.
Honest question: Isn't it more effective to let the unsieged tanks just kill the nydus? Single target DPS is good, less APM usage, less "on-screen-time"

tested this recently, at 0 upgrades a tank will kill a nydus faster in siege mode (asuming it spawns in range of it). if oor just shooting will always be better, too much time wasted sieging.

That was my impression too. Seems like a pro player should know this. Specially with his army in a fight where micro is desperately needed

It's still his best matchup. But not good enough to beat Dark.
Bunny played horribly in g2 and g3, he didn't really show the progresses he made recently; he has the potential to take games off Dark, I am sure he could have at least looked better. Dark rock solid as always in ZvT, on the other hand!
I'd be surprised to see another onesided series today.
Classic to me seems like he is always highly underestimated. In my eyes he is always somewhat of a title contender. Rogue is a tough matchup though, but I think Mr Chintoss has better chances than people give him credit for.
That must be hard to recover from for Classic. After that push killing the fourth he was in such a good position. But not ready for mutas and didn't take his fifth fast enough, ouch
Wow Classic! Clearly he just had a much better game plan for the maps today. If he hadn't made a couple of mistakes (looked nervous?) he would probably have swept the series.

Classic saved my liquidbets there wow Dark vs Bunny went as expected, poor Bunny
I'm very afraid for my liquidbets since I went with heart and voted for Maru/TY but TvP seemed hella hard in recent tournaments and Dear is supposedly very hot in the matchup right now. Trap it depends which Trap shows up I guess. My real hope is that Dear activates dearp mode, he has this habit of crashing hard making you forget he won a GSL in the past
Dark might win this GSL though, except if Maru somehow makes it to the finals again, I don't see any other player beating Dark since Classic struggled so much against ro8 Rogue

Lol Rogue losing in the ro8 of five out of the last six GSLs.
Great for Classic. He really deserved to advance here, hopefully he can overcome Dark in which case he probably gets an easy PvP finals.
On another note I just realised Trap has a decent chance at winning the whole thing. He can beat TY and Maru, and Dear's PvP is definitely a weak point. He can realistically meet Dark in the finals and well.

He got 3-0ed by Solar at IEM. Maybe he has polished his TvZ since but he doesn't have historically as much success with 2rax and stuff as Maru. I'd say he has less variance in his play than Maru, who might lose more stupidly, but also can win games TY couldn't.

Trap's PvP is almost as weak as Dear's if not weaker(both got 3-0d by herO at Katowice so I'm not sure how they would match), Classic should be way stronger in the matchup.

I don't think Katowice tells us much about TY's TvZ in general. He had a really bad week, did not look like his usual self. I don't think there is anything wrong with his TvZ. It's more his TvDark that is not good.
Since December in TvZ, TY is 48–33 (59.26%) in games and 22–8 (73.33%) in matches.
Against Dark in Bo3+, TY is 20–44 (31.25%) in games and 4–13 (23.53%) in matches. It's slightly better if only counting offline.

I hope Dark wins this GSL. Then all we need is another international tournament where Serral can wipe the floor with Dark again and boom, Serral #1 in the Powerrank
EZ Liquibet. Disappointed in Bunny's performance (really was hoping for a good terran game or two). Dark made him look like he had no idea what was going on. Great PvZ series from Dark and Classic though.

Nothing against Classic, but with Serral looking pretty average in ZvT recently, I think Dark has a legitimate claim for best ZvT in the world, and I'm curious to see how he fares in a big bo7 vs Maru or TY.
wasn't to impressed with classic first 2 wins. Cannonrush and glaves all in? yeah... pretty cheesy. but storm drop? in game 5? What a play! Now he deserves the semis!

Legitimate claim is good, he has the best ZvT by a mile for pretty much all of Lotv.

I'd be happy if either Dark or Classic took this season, both of them have been waiting a long time. Between Classic retiring and Dark needing something before he becomes the new soO, top bracket looks pretty good.
Bottom bracket, I guess Dear has a nice story too.
Couldnt watch it live, but managed to dodge the results and watch the VODs. We're really getting a treat with all these super fast, spoiler-free uploads. Dear vs Dark rematch for the finals? Anyone else?
`Classic - one of the best PvZs, one of the best Protosses. Rogue with his RO8 curse. I mean, c'mon
Bunny isn't exactly bad, but Dark is on another level.

Bunny's performance was shamefully bad, like WTF level of bad, but Classic v Rouge made up for it, what a series, i dindt really think Classic could pull it out, i was about 70% sure it's gonna be a 3-1 for Rouge, but what do you know!?
Dear vs Dark rematch for the finals? Anyone else?

I like Bunny, i think he's really high skilled. Very nice macro, and most days he has good micro. Sadly today he didnt show it. like god damn that double thordrop lost to a few hydras... AFTER he seen them and re-positioned the 2 'vacs a bit, 5 seconds later he ran through those hydras all the same... and that was one of like 5 huge control mistakes he made in that game alone, like goddman, he looked bad today. Single control group, lumped up siege tanks sieging at the same time, while being flanked and clouded...
As for Classic's PvZ, it is kinda bad. He wins quite a lot because he has a lot of strong allins and cheeses, but his everyday normal standard PvZ play always felt off, for me at least. Game 3 he should have won. Stats, Neeb and maybe a few others would have won from there, or the very least the game would have lasted way way longer. After that complete meltdown, Rogue being up 2-1,I was completly resigned, that it's gonna be a lopsided game 4, and that's that. But alas, Classic really did prepare well, very good builds and gameplans for this bo5, even though his control was a bit sloppy throughout the series.

If you have plenty of refined builds to win - that's a good PvZ for me, screw standard play
