I am announcing a weekly $50 tournament open to all regions - defaulting to NA!
The idea behind this tournament is to promote the semi-pro scene within Starcraft 2 (offering prizes all the way down to 8th place) and encourage the more accomplished starcraft 2 professionals to seek out better challenges than demolishing 5,000 MMR players on NA. I mostly hope to see good games between opponents close in skill level, and create an environment where these players can compete for a small bit of money and OSC points each week, for glory, and for practice.
The cut-off point ($8000 USD) is somewhat arbitrary but for now it will stay as such. This weekly tournament could potentially push players past that boundary so that they will no longer be allowed to compete.
We wish all the players GL HF and hope to see some new talents and regulars!
RULES and DETAILS:
It will happen every Saturday evening at 3:00PM PST (6:00PM EST) and be casted and streamed by Nistic (aka Charmquark). The dream is that we actually rotate casters, and get all kinds of awesome perspectives on the game, somewhat reminiscent of the HSC casting couch, but online. For now, my stream will be used to cast these events! Comment or PM me if you're interested in helping cast.

Open only to players who have made less than $8,000 USD in Starcraft 2 tournament earnings. Our source for this data will always be https://www.esportsearnings.com/games/151-starcraft-ii/top-players or aligulac, as there are sometimes significant discrepancies. We'll do our best to find the most accurate information by asking players directly or talking to others who have knowledge about it. We hope this doesn't discourage anyone from playing, as to make over $8k is a great accomplishment in and of itself and all participants are encouraged to make this goal or any competitive goal in Starcraft 2.
MUST CHECK-IN to play. Check-in opens 2 hours before the tournament start time, and with so many players signing up, we do need to start on time.
Open globally, server priority is Americas unless both players agree otherwise. Within NA servers, players should do their best to accommodate other regions (pm admin if there are issues).
Double elimination bracket.
Best of 3 from the Round of 32 until the semifinals in the upper bracket.
The entire lower bracket except for the lower bracket finals is best of 1. The lower bracket finals is best of 3.
The grand finals will be best of 5, with the winner of the upper bracket gaining a 1 game advantage.
Veto Format: ABBA ABA or alternatively if both players agree, they may veto in another format.

TRIVIA:
The name Platy-pro came into being after Nemesis suggested platypus as the tournament name because of my platypus profile picture in skype. Wanting a SEMI-pro tournament, I thought Platy-pro would work and also sound sufficiently gumpy enough to seem slightly less appealing to the "pros".
