Well, this rematch wasn't even close. Like it should have looked the first time, basically.
Hey, wait a minute. I'm looking at the results in the OP... TY earned more money today than Zest? Dafuq? There's got to be some bonus to winning the group, right?
The monetary payouts for map wins may act as a kind of perverse incentive... The best outcome for players is to lose their first series 2-1 and then win their next 2 so that they win 5 maps in total. In addition, why did Zest get less money than TY?

I agree. And it's kind of ridiculous that TY gets more money for going 0-2, 2-0, 2-0 than Zest does for winning the group 2-1, 2-0. So I hope he gets an extra for winning the group.

seems no bonus
I'd argue that a higher seed could be seen as a "bonus" as you're likely playing an easier player and more likely to earn more money

That's a pretty theoretical approach to it. There's no guarantee you'll get an easier opponent if you win the group than if you take 2nd, and thus no guarantee you'll get more money at the end. But as 2nd place, you can at least guarantee yourself to get more money than the guy who wins the group by going 1-2, 2-0, 2-0. Even if it's just for a round.
Look at it this way - if from now on Zest and TY have the same results every round until they meet each other, TY will have earned more money until then, despite losing more. I'm not sure that's how the system is supposed to work out.
it's inadequate that 2nd places get more money than 1sts but I love the idea of taking mapscores into consideration for the prize distribution, I really hope more tournaments will do something like this.
Do you want more money in exchange of the risk of being cheesed out in the loser's match, and face potentially stronger opponents in the playoffs? Or take less danger by advancing first, but taking less money since you play less? At the end of the day it is only $150 difference so not that a big deal imo.

it can(/should) be optimized but yeah at the end of the day huge props to KFC for putting up a larger spread than usual and large prize pool for something online
