Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series
[image loading]

What is OSC?

For those who are unaware, The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series (OSC) is the Oceanic, South East Asian, North American and Chinese regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. Although the network is based in and focuses on these regions, many events are open to everyone in the world.

The top 32 players ranked via the OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the minimum $5000+ Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion! OSC World Rankings were established in December 2012.

2015 Season Statistics:

189 Completed Partnered tournaments!
498 players earned OSC points!
$49735 (AUD) was won by players!
Our most active player was PsiArc, who played in 119 tournaments!
59 players all won at least 1 tournament
ByuN has the most tournament wins at 25
32 $ Bounties claimed for beating favoured opponents
There were 17 OSC 1v1 Challenge Show Matches

GuMiho was 2014's Champion, taking out the $3500 finals series.
PiG was 2013's Champion, taking out the $2100 finals series.

Current OSC rankings and database can be viewed here

Factors which influence how many OSC points tournaments are allocated include: prizepool, format, frequency, open qualifiers and region locking.

Some unique/interesting features of OSC tournaments and rankings.
  • Players are seeding via points acquired from previous OSC placings. (Points often are awarded to 16/32nd place)

  • If you defeat someone ranked in the top 32, or higher than yourself, you earn scalp/bonus points (These are used in the event of a tie for yearly finals qualification)

  • Players can challenge each other to show matches and put their points on the line, winner takes all.

  • There are $ Bounties on top tier players if you can defeat them in a Bo3+ series

  • Rankings reflect tournament success, participation, and direct individual series

  • We have an active paid news writing team who provide fresh sc2 content and OSC coverage, available at sc2sea.com

OSC Supporter Packages

You can show your support towards OSC, and help us put on events for the community for just $8 USD per month! One less chocolate bar/One less beer at the pub/a couple less songs on iTunes, etc, and the money goes towards supporting the scene It's quite common place for players/casters to have a subscription option on twitch tv (which isn't an option for us), and we feel we have much more to give back in terms of entertainment, competition and rewards. Subscribers are also another way we can potentially market ourselves to prospective sponsors, which in turn will result in further growth.

We also provided supporters with bonuses such as event replay packs, and chance to win 1 hour of coaching from top tier players.

If you are interested, you can subscribe here.

Predictions, come at me! look kinda neat now!!! upper bracket

Wally vs Snute

What I'd like
I'd like Wally to trash Snute 2-0 tbh im not a snute fan idk why. wally seems like a lad tho.
What i think will happen
Sadly i think snute will win this one, although wally mustve improved a ton to get such a high seed so going with 2-1 snute and hopefully wally pulls off an upset

Petraeus vs Gumiho
What I'd like:-
Petraeus 2 vs 1 Gumiho
What I think:-
Petraeus 1 vs 2 Gumiho

HukiCanada vs SeitheriAustralia

Don't know who Seither is, would like an upset but predicting my old favorite protoss Huk will 2-0 this one.

PiLiPiLi vs iLaw

This one i think PiLiPiLi will take 2-0 off asking the mystically cosmos who these two players are and pretty much doing proper predictions means picking the international who had a tougher road to get in. At least i think he did. idk

HERES WHERE STUFF GETS INTERESTING!!!
The match up I'm most looking forward to viewing
Probe vs Iaguz

I've heard probe has come a long way in the 2-3 years i havn't played/watched at all so will be looking to see if he is the new Protoss Light :D and hes facing possibly the Manliest of men too.

What I'd like to happen:-
literally only because hes protoss id like to see a probe 2-1

What I think will happen
Iaguz 2-1, tvp for iaguz hasn't been as stressed as much as his tvt and tvz in tournaments here so in my head Iaguz will drop a map just cos of toss things. Probe prove me wrong.

THE BATTLE OF MY BOIS

Crimson vs Pig

Ben NZ ace player, my captain my captain iZerg vs iZerg Jared will hump the crap out of air in a meme.

What I'd like to happen:-
draw niether of the lose please

What I think will happen:-
2-0 piggu, sorry Ben. Have always thought Jared excelled when things weren't quite figured out and he could just be a step ahead of the meta. Feel welcome to prove me wrong Ben

Man that lower half of winners bracket looks so hype.

Probe vs iaguz again will be fascinating and seeing the winner fight pilipili (potentially) could be a great clash of Aus vs NA. Psiarc may end up being a little bit outclassed but it could be fun to see him fight iaguz in tvt.

Plus we might get blysk vs pig. Recent history favours blysk but pig has had higher peaks for sure, so it will be very telling who wins here. I think demilove has struggled with both before but maybe this could be his chance to rectify that.

Hoping to see blysk make it through to fight Byun. Would be a great result for him.

Really like this year's finals format. Well done Eddie! (Thanks deth)

Is Losers Round 2 match #4 & match #8 being played Day 1?

I predict GuMiho will lose to Petraeus, his TvZ hasn't been great in LotV

The plan is to play all Winners R1 + R2, as well as Lower R1 + R2.
One or two series could be pushed back to Day 2 if needed, depending on how we are doing for time.
Big day ahead! 14 players will be eliminated!

It's a custom design to reflect and reward those who had the best results across the year. Players qualified from 189 OSC events!

-Double Elimination format.

-Top 20 Players start in the Upper Bracket - 2 'lives'

-Higher seeds placed deeper into the bracket, to reflect their strong results throughout the year.

-21-32nd start in the Lower Bracket, Single Elimination - 1 'life'

Here's a version with examples of where players fall after R1.

HuK vs Solar looked like a fresh player who just finished the campagin on easy difficulty versus Jaedong in his prime.

he never was really ahead. he tried a nydus play, killed some SCVs, but Kaleazhur had a 3rd CC up, Bly was on 2 base with no tech, while Kaleazhur had all the tech.

I don't really understand the tournament. I don't care much about this, and I am not mad or anything, but I just don't understand.

It's labeled as an oceanic tournament, but then it lists regions that are basically 2/3 of the world. And *then* I tune in and see snute playing, who isn't even included in the regions that are listed? Very confusing.

Was it just looking for more players so they took whoever?

ahh, ok
so basically those regions have the easiest avenues into the tournament, but exceptional players from other regions have ways to qualify?

makes sense, thanks.

Great to see Solar show some ZvZ.

ZvZ is my best matchup with 75%+ winrate. I struggly in ZvT and ZvP a lot

but I can still learn a lot from Solar ZvZ

I don't understand how just about EVERYONE talks about protoss being overpowered, and how terran is so weak.. yet things like that happens. Friggin unreal how stupid the SC community is most of the time.

I guess 2 base tier 1 terran >>> 3 base tier 3 protoss.

I mean, when people are actually pissed off at MarineLord for 5-0'ing Korea because it means Terran wont be proclaimed so "underpowered" anymore, you know the community is terrible.

Meh? That was a pretty epic throw from Pili. He got a huge advantage cause Byun hard countered adept play with marine tank, and Pili was actually doing blink dt... Then he had 3 base vs 2 for about a millenium and never got any aoe...

You're not supposed to lose there.

tanks?? I seen one tank in the expo, none in the fighting army/range of the battle. So basically, you are saying Marine hard counters adepts? The unit "made" specifically to help battle marines more than the shitty gateway army of hots? So Marines counter adepts, stalkers, immortals, archons, zealots.. Sounds underpowered for sure.

I'm not saying protoss is weak, I'm saying its annoying as hell that any successful protoss player is instantly labeled "an abuser of the overpowered race" yet any terran player who wins a game is considered some god because they play the "underpowered" race, yet the REAL A-move race is definitely not Protoss... As shown by ByuN right there.

Well you should have looked more. It was more than one tank.

Also it's not so much marines as it is "not marauders". Marauders suck vs adept play, so you skip it, and get faster tanks and libs. But none of that is covered by the fact that Pili shouldn't have lost this game in the first place.
