Not everyone is as familair with the game or watches it for the entire weekend. There are plenty of newcomers that drop in for a little while. I'm confused...how is whether or not a viewer is familiar with SC2 relevant? And yeah, like somebody mentioned, it's just a leftover relic from WoL/HoTS when they needed something to fill time during the extremely slow buildup in the early game. It's always been annoying, but now it's annoying and even more unnecessary in LoTV. Player introductions obviously have more value to a newer viewer than an enfranchised one. How so? How do player introductions in every game of a multi-game series help a newer viewer more than a veteran one? The players get introduced in the first game of the series, and their names are up on the big, obvious overlay, not to mention that the casters have to refer to the players by their names. I remember when I was a new viewer myself, I thought it was weird and annoying that they re-introduced and re-hyped the players for every game of series. A good introduction is not just confined to naming who the player is, but also provides background about the player's history or playstyle, and as such wouldn't always be the same. I do agree that just naming a player isn't particularly helpful, though it doesn't take that much time anyways. Even saying the player/color/spawn can be helpful. I've seen enough multiple-set mirror matchups where the players switched colors multiple times. Disorienting as fuck.

on a side note: do you guys agree that TvT is the MU that changed the most since LOTV? the whole pick up tanks thingy feels like there is a new unit in the terran army, changes everything micro wise..

Do you honestly believe that he is currently worse than a no-name like Firecake? did you see MMA's games? I did Yes I did. He looked very convincing vs Demuslim in TvT, which is a balanced MU. MC also looked like a god vs Mana and then lost to Elazer. "looked very convincing vs Demuslim"

From time to time you could announce it, or if it is some really hyped up final, otherwise it´s just a time filler and unecessary. idk to me, it feels like the proper way to start a game off. like we know when a tv episode starts because it's the beginning, but they still have the opening. it just feels right I can see it at live events being a thing but it is really awkward when they introduce with no external feedback (crowd, applause, etc.) I find it unnecessary and awkward, and think it really should just be a Game 1 thing, with the players having consistent colors (red, blue, etc.), and then just doing a more streamlined and natural intro at the beginning of subsequent games. I think highlighting maps at the beginning of games is more needed than silly repetitive player intros. There are only so many times i can hear throughout the tournament "IN THE TOP LEFT OUR AMAZING FOREIGNER HOPE FROM FRANCE REPRESENTING MILLENIUM IT IS AHSJLWEGBWLEHAJKWHE!!!!! *epic camera zooms and drags*" i dont know it's a good way to start and it isn't hurting anyone imo, plus there's some pretty funny intros that we've had in the past also qxc

What I (and others) are referring to is the practice of introducing the players with a dramatic pronunciation of their name in a hyped up voice every single game. That is annoying and unnecessary, and was instituted in early WoL to help fill up the boring time in the early game.
If you read my actual comment I'm advocating to eliminate that entirely and just briefly touch on the spawning positions, then touch on actually helpful information like the quirks and traits of the map, how X race usually likes to play on this map/from these spawning positions, etc.

That's exactly what I suggested a few pages back --> Show nested quote +On December 20 2015 07:44 sh0ck wrote: To be fair, I agree with Drogo and NightEnd that doing "player introductions" every game and calling out the spawning positions is kind of annoying and unnecessary. I assume it would be something the casters themselves decide to do/not do? So we should voice our opinions to Tastosis, Apollo, Rotti, Nathanias, etc, I'm thinking. Tastosis when casting GSL will pretty much never get past player intros. GSL has always done them, and the Korean casters say detailed things during the introduction that English casters will casually mention at some point during the match.
