As we just saw, it is possible for protoss to have T3 units and a massive timing of a different techpath before lurkers are even on the field. It's what zergs have been saying all along, the unit is already very high in the techtree so it doesn't make sense to delay them even further. It's already kind of T3ish with how many steps you have to take.

the mine analogy is actually really good IMHO, because they are stupid broken units that very rarely aren't cost-efficient
