Questions I assume will be asked
  • Wow, this is really soon. Why are you announcing so late?
We were committed to the date, but couldn't finalize some of the details until Blizzcon weekend. Sorry for the short notice!
  • Will this conflict with TB's SanDisk Invitational?
Nope (Unless they bring back Swarmhosts as a thing). We've been talking to them to try to avoid a conflict as much as possible.
  • Is this LOTV?
           Yes
  • How were the teams decided? When will we know them?
All players were asked to fill out a form indicating players they'd Like and Dislike to play with. Once everyone has filled it out, teams will be announced within 24 hours.

Looking forward to this, especially seeing Trump and Strifecro get back in the saddle. +1 for a good ol' swarm host joke, too.

Stephano/Violet and Incontrol/Huk are stupidly strong teams, I can't see the finals being between any other teams but those two.

Stephano is just kind of never not decent, and Incontrol still actively ladders and is high GM, so those teams have a huge advantage.

The problem was both Stephano and Incontrol were always going to create teams with an advantage. There is no pro who you could pair them with that would compensate the fact that they're both still good players. Unless you wanted to switch the two so they have to offrace

I think if Destiny and ended up with Hyun that'd be a strong team too.

Destiny/Catz will be stronger than people think. Strategically speaking they probably have a lot up their sleeves. I still think Stephano/violet will take it and Incontrol/Huk are likely finalists

Gotta be honest, I vetoed this map, I just can't beat Zerg on it. And also the third is a 30 minute trip away from your main (and sometimes your opponent's main aswell).

So they're only casting half of today's matches? This BO3, a BO5, and a replay of one of the other BO3s?

Nate & Rotti are casting on http://www.twitch.tv/starcraft in addition to the Basetrade stream. Looks like they'll do all Ro8 and 1 Ro4 matches in total.

Oh okay! Thanks for that, much better (better that they're casting all RO8 matches, not saying one casting team is better than the other, they're both great).

Also I'm excited to see TT1 in action, he was on top of the LOTV beta ladder in archon mode for a while and practiced a lot with QXC and BeastyQT. I could see either team in this BO3 going pretty far.

A real shame indeed. The whole tournament is 6 bo3s and 1 bo5. They should've just streamed everything in a row on the main channel and we would've gotten some real hype and viewership for this :/.

Agreed. This is quite a shame. Not really any point in having big name personalities and not streaming them.

Well at least that's a good thing then. I hope the players know that as well. They might not given that liquipedia says they're BO3.

Yeah I'm leaning that way as well, but on Basetrade they said it'd be tomorrow, but today's Sunday so I dunno. Maybe it'll be just Rotti/Nate's steam casting the finals I guess?

The Zerg team went for a zergling/ravager comp and completely shut down blink stalkers, was kinda fun to see.

Yea pretty unfair of bunny to get carried through by the channelman!
My heroes: Jangbi, Bisu, Stork and BeSt for BW, Rain, Zest and Stats for SC2! Need a better Signature tbh...

I predict that in a few months terrans will start having a few SCVs in their army to repair liberators. In the past we've only seen repair being a bit of a big deal the odd time with thors or in extremely rare cases battlecruisers. But I think liberators are actually worth having an scv or 2 to repair, or maybe just dropping mules to repair, but I think it might me mroe effective to have an scv or two around, though I could be wrong there.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Feel kinda bad for Bunny, feel like it's just him versus 2 good players.

Agreed, bit of an unfair team up.

I mean Stephano/Violet is kinda imba, but they still played really, really well. Bunny/Chanman still 2-0ed Massan/Hyun, so it's not like zerg is unbeatable.

I don't think anyone should use those games as balanced. Lots of mistakes were made and I am pretty sure Bunny was doing most of the work. No offense to chanman, but I can't imagine him being much help just because he doesn't play sc2 and was never a pro.
