I like how Rogue didn't go close enough to see a command structure but turns his drone around anyway. Might aswell have turned around after seeing no wall at the ramp then <.<

there was once a game of 6pool losing to nexus first because drone missed opponent's main nexus by 1mm

Starting at WCS Season 2, 2014, Ro16 - his infamous loss to Soulkey and the day he gained the Powers of Evil..
INno beat him. Lost to Soulkey, failing to become terran hope. Soulkey beat him. Lost to his punching bag. GuMiho beat him. CJ didn't field him in playoffs due to the curse. Ruin beat him. Never won a PL game again. Pet beat him. Had to go to fucking TWOP. sOs beat him. sOs was InCa, InCa is evil, ignores the curse. Flash beat him. Lost the next round to Action. TY beat him. Lost out 1-4 in Code S. sOs beat him. Had to meet arch-nemesis Solar twice in Ro16, lost. Maru beat him. Lost to Flash, was announced in Open Bracket but cancelled to further disappoint fans. eMotion beat him. Lost next round. Also, who the fuck is eMotion? Symbol beat him, failed to do anything until very recently. Dark beat him. Lost next round. Heart beat him. Failed to do anything relevant ever again, also fell out next round. Dark beat him again, so Shine cursed him with never winning a championship- which was his ambition. First beat him. What's the last time you've heard of First? Also, he lost to fucking DynaMite next round. DYNAMITE. TY beat him, so Shine snuck into KT and convinced them that TY sucked, therefor making him pretty much never play in PL. Maru beat him. Maru proceeded to have to play PartinG - his arch-nemesis - three times in GSL, where he beat Shine. Armani beat him, but he beat MarineKing so I'm convinced it was just Shine acting through him for greater evil. Rain is the only known person to defeat the Shine curse. Matter of fact, he has a shine blessing of sorts- this time, it won him the tournament. I think this is because Rain is the champion of Good, and when the champion of Good defeats evil, he wins the princess or something. jjakji beat him, proceeded to lose to Armani - and every qualifier for pretty much the entirety of his career, minus his recent GSL qualification half a year after. MarineKing beat him, and immediately Shine not only cursed him out of GSL (after giving fans false hope by winning the first set) but also go 2-12 in proleague. Previous to this, he had a GSL qualification over Dark and a Hot6ix finals, and a PL win over Stats. Yeah. Shine killed MarineKing. Zest beat him, only for Creator to be sent for revenge the very next week. [Also, TANGTANG] Impact beat him, proceeded to fail out next round (and be cursed to only lose for the next week). Revival beat him, Evil took revenge by sending Choya to eliminate him for GSL. Shame was so great he retired a month and a half later. Rogue beat him, so Shine kicked him out of the GSL Ro8 and made him lose 0-3 to Hurricane so he didn't get worse punishment. Impact beat him, so Shine got angry, kicked out Stats into Code B and then watched as Impact got 3-0'd in Code A. DongRaeGu beat him, so Shine made him face YoDa in Code A and get kicked out for maximum anger. Bomber beat him. Shine was tired at this point, so instead of just letting Bomber lose to PenguiN and Zoun a couple days later, he sent Bomber all the way to the Ro16 and used him as an agent of evil to eliminate Life and force a teamkill- which he lost. Rain beat him. Of course, Rain is the force of Good, so he wins the princess (GSL Trophy). TANGTANG beat him, lost out next round and lost out in the May Finals (which he qualified for by beating Shine) 0-2 as well. EnDerr beat him, proceeded to kick out another foreigner (ZhuGeLiang) before losing to his superior- a faceless korean (Arthur). Agent of evil indeed. aLive beat him, was cursed to do well and not be noticed again. HyuN beat him. Had to play Snute in KungFu Cup a week later. Spear beat him- had to lose to Has a week later, followed by Stork a week after that. Rough life, dude. Classic beat him, had to teamkill Dream into a kong (SSL), Dark twice (IEM), Dream again (IEM) and INno + Dark (MSI- but he lost here). Agent of Evil. Apocalypse beat him, lost to ByuN and failed every qualifier since. eMotion beat him. Again, who the fuck is eMotion? Lost first round in SSL/KeSPA Cup either way. DongRaeGu beat him, lost to Impact and sOs since, failing out of both SSL and KeSPA Cup qualifiers. Bails beat him. Has to live in America. TY beat him, and was forced to watch as his teams' playoff run was torn from him without him being able to help. Also lost to Sorry.
Shine is god.
Short list.. Shine is responsible for - Maru making Ro4 GSL - CJ failing in playoffs - Maru not going to IEM Toronto - Dark not winning - Rogue choking - MarineKing sucking - Rain's GSL win - Creator killing Zest - Revival retiring - Potentially Maru's all-kill over KT
details are scrappy but you can find them on aligulac may or may not be serious

I like how in the KeSPA Cup hype video there's a mistake in Flash's results. Guy who made them doesn't have enough SC2 passion to check if he got them right.

Dear Sir, I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about the song which you have just broadcast about the lumberjack who wears women's clothes. Many of my best friends are lumberjacks, and only a few of them are transvestites. Yours faithfully, Brigadier Sir Charles Arthur Strong (Mrs.)
P.S. I have never kissed the editor of the Radio Times.
I've always been told that when playing Mutas vs Roaches, your first priority is to kill the Roaches before trying any harass at their bases. I guess that's why.

Muta >>> Roach. I hate it so much when I go muta in ZvZ and just watch Roaches kill all my buildings while the mutas slowly bruise them to yellow helathbars ... This was some justice.

Even during his all-kill on Monday he got a bit lucky with how his Zerg opponents played out their games.

i guess i haven't seen a lot of his games recently then because i always remember him trying sky toss compositions and getting shut down. or him going down multiple tech routes and getting out produced.
also i was referring to what the casters said when they stated that sOs's "style" is supposedly anathema to zergs.

Haven't watched this game, but Solar was one of the first Zerg pros who started doing that and actually countering mass Immortal builds with Ultras, Vipers and Infestors. Glad that he was using it again.

I think their interaction with Zerg air is pretty stupid, sairs from BW would own zerg air on proper upgrades, but you could always kill them with enough of your own stuff. Phoenixes are just a binary counter.

Playing phoenix styles also takes great multitasking, good phoenix control (which is very hard), good decisionmaking, etc.
Phoenixes are far better designed than 99% of everything else in the game.

Look, Phoenix as unit(without upgrade) is actually ok, but it still falls into a SC2 category of hard counters that just make for horrible games. It is just quite hard counter to whole Zerg air and Zerg has to tech to Infestors just to be able to counter Phoenixes.

It's only a "hard counter" if you are as great as sOs, even most of the pros can't get that much out of them. And they have obvious vulnerabilities, such as being useless against anything else, which is kindof exactly what the zerg wants anyway, as the race with the easiest techswitch. There is really no problem with them and phoenix games are often amazing.

Phoenixes are a good counter to corruptors, yeah.
If you haven't watched the game, 11 Phoenixes died during the first half of the game while 20 Mutalisks and 20 Corrupters died on Zerg's side. Yeah, when you have range upgraded, they are faster than Corruptors, have more range and shoot while they move. Phoenixes can hit and run the whole time while only thing you can do with Corruptors is a-move and still be kited.

That "proper" control, say vs muta/corruptor, is so difficult to do though that I have absolutely no issue with that. The same argument can be made about a concussive shell marauder killing an infinite amount of zealots without charge. It's possible, but so hard to do that it's fine.
And no, phoenixes are not the end all counter to zerg air. Muta/corruptor with a good enough corruptor count does beat it, which is why protoss HAS to add in a stalker/archon ground army and zerg transitions to infestors.

sOs taking a third and Solar is still on 3 bases and I'm like "isn't Solar isn't supposed to be further ahead than this, or try to do something about sOs's 3rd"
i don't understand why you guys are talking about balance from a game where solar could have played a lot better by having a 5th, more spores, and not losing 20+ overlords. if he had a better muta/corruptor count he would have been fine.
not to mention that he bled out a bunch of corruptors/mutas for no reason. nothing to do with phoenix unit design.

It was only better because the Scourge were stupid and noone could really micro them perfectly. "Great" interactions based on unit stupidity are one thing I would really like to keep contained to BW.

I'm not talking about balance, I'm fully aware Solar lost that game himself.

Are you actually hating on phoenixes? That's just ridiculous.
"Let's make the fastest unit in the game be able to shoot while moving, while at the same time give it an upgrade for 7 range, what could possibly go wrong?"
Playing phoenix styles also takes great multitasking, good phoenix control (which is very hard), good decisionmaking, etc.
Phoenixes are far better designed than 99% of everything else in the game.
Nah, they aren't, they are pretty horrible but it's ok, I didn't expect anything different from a guy who thinks that PvP is the best matchup in the game.
The best mirror, yeah
I like your arguments by the way. I don't think you've ever played phoenix styles or you would realize that few things are harder to do and phoenixes are an insanely intricate and intriguing unit.
Look, Phoenix as unit(without upgrade) is actually ok, but it still falls into a SC2 category of hard counters that just make for horrible games. It is just quite hard counter to whole Zerg air and Zerg has to tech to Infestors just to be able to counter Phoenixes.
So your argument is that you need certain tech to beat another?
Are you trying to tell me that there's a strategic aspect to the game?!
No, I am telling you that hard counters are stupid and that your reading comprehension is worse than Solar's Corruptor control.

You still haven't made one reasonable argument. Phoenixes counter mutas quite hard, sure. Why is that a bad thing again? Because you have to transition against phoenix and can't brainlessly mass mutas?

Are you trying to tell me that there's a strategic aspect to the game?!
the argument is that no matter your air superiority, phoenixes with an upgrade destroy everything without taking any damage (if you have proper control). It's kind of sucky design, yeah.
What the actual fuck?
Yeah, the only difference is that Marauders are limited by ground and ground objects and are also limited by stim that chops a lot of their HP, it is pretty much impossible for Marauders to kill "infinite" amount of Zealots, where with Phoenixes you don't even have to move and a-click, just move properly.
It is hard at the start for the Phoenixes when they don't have range upgrade and when you don't have enough of them, but later when you have ~20 Phoenixes? It is piece of cake, Corruptors can't kill catch you and Mutas melt instantly. It is also funny how you think that Phoenixes are tough to micro while on the other hand there is no any micro on the Zerg's side, as he can't do any against faster units with more range than his.
Are you actually hating on phoenixes? That's just ridiculous.

So you've never seen zergs micro against phoenixes by retreating and then stopping to fire? Actually just go watch any soO game from 2014 before you keep arguing. With a good enough corruptor count, they 1 shot phoenixes. As long as your upgrades are good enough, phoenixes won't kill them quickly. That "easy control" you're talking about requires you to babysit phoenixes 24/7. You CANNOT leave them alone for even a second. But at the same time you also have to macro properly, control your ground army movement, etc.etc. Go play phoenix styles before you keep arguing. It's painfully obvious that you have no idea how hard they are to play.
And perhaps, JUST PERHAPS, you could consider adding infestors against 20+ phoenixes. Transitioning is a part of every RTS game and you keep failing to address why having to add infestors is a bad thing.

Soft counters are not a bad thing, hard counters are. Because it comes to the point where you instantly die when you don't have that one unit you need, like if you don't have Colossi you get stream rolled by masses of Roaches and Hydras, or Bio, but if you do it is the opposite, then opponent needs to have Vipers and if he has you are good as dead if both have good control, then if you have High Templars, Vipers are most likely dead before they pull the Colossi etc. Instead of needing to micro better, you need to have right units at the right time, it creates stupid situations.
We've made a lot of reasonable arguments, for whatever reason you are ignoring them.

It's not the same. Mass phoenix just needs more babysitting vs muta corruptor. If you leave them for a second to do anything you get mauled. They're just so fast and fragile that they require constant micro more so than zerg's air.

The only Korean-level answer is "not let it happen". When that fails, he may as well try the diamond-league version, when nothing else has any real chance.

So your argument is that you need a certain tech to beat another?
Are you trying to tell me that there's a strategic aspect to the game?!
the argument is that no matter your air superiority, phoenixes with an upgrade destroy everything without taking any damage (if you have proper control). It's kind of sucky design, yeah.
No, I don't know how hard it is to play Phoenix style as I am not a Protoss player, but I know how easy it is to control Phoenixes as I was playing with them... same can be said for you about Muta/Corruptors style, you see a ton of players losing a lot of Mutalisks in a matter of seconds when they are not following them. I don't know what so special about Phoenixes in that regard, every race has to micro, macro and multitask at the same time, it's called Starcraft... Mutalisks also need to be babysitted 24/7.
It's not the same. Mass phoenix just needs more babysitting vs muta corruptor. If you leave them for a second to do anything you get mauled. They're just so fast and fragile that they require constant micro more so than zerg's air.
That doesn't make much sense, if I need to attack Phoenixes with Mutas and Corruptors I need to babysit them as well as Mutas are like papers against Phoenixes. If I leave them for a second Phoenixes can kill 3-4 Mutas before I even react, Phoenixes kill Mutas a lot faster than Corruptors kill Phoenixes. Difference is that I can produce more Mutas/Corruptors than Protoss can Phoenixes if he doesn't have like 3 Stargates, that still doesn't mean that I can afford to lose them recklessly.
Pff, he doesn't remember MSC name? The big ball from Nexus! Then we have the big disco ball from stargate and in LotV we have a kamikaze ball from robo. Also we have electric ball from gateway. Protoss surely has balls!

Don't forget the ball with the flower around it that you build around Zerg Hatcheries, or the Forcefield ball from the Gateway

If they a-move into each other who wins? Phoenixes get wrecked if the zerg gets on top of them.

But why on earth would you a-move them into each other? If you a-move Mutas and Corruptors, Mutas will attack Phoenixes 5 seconds before Corruptors even come to them as Mutas are a lot faster... You are going to lose a lot of units against properly controlled Phoenixes anyway, you just micro so you minimize your losses as much as possible.
So, you don't snipe the cyber core, you don't go inside and you lose all your units to storm. As the cherry on the top of the cake you abduct immortals FROM blinding cloud. Well...

so many good locations to put a hatchery on this map. Solar chose the worst.

I heard broodlords are really good at catching blink stalkers and warp prisms. It is honestly at the point of just offracing or forfeiting. Tournaments that do not allow offrace are not even worth playing in anymore.

Solar thought sOs was going for colossus. That's why he hit a viper timing that failed. That's when solar's bad decision making of expanding without detection kicked in and bunch of other stuff I must've missed.

I still think htat Solar could tech switch to kill sOs. he just headbashed into the 3rd which is always somehow bad fight.
Yeah atm it really feels like committing to range units is bound to fail if the P doesn't mess up. I like that Solar tried to go air and melee. In fact if he had positioned his "hidden" spire in a better spot I think he'd have won 3-1.

Then why would he go in just like that instead of harassing or preparing for a transition? Solar didn't know sOs had storm I bet and went right into sOs' third.

I think this is what happened: He made roach/hydra to deal with the immortal push follow up. sOs didn't push and Solar was in that weird spot where - he doesn't have tech, so going BLs is superrisky if sOs just pushes at like 140-150 supply with immortals, blink, possibly archons - he doesn't have melee upgrades or a spire so there is no possible techswitch - he cannot really attack because warp prisms
So what he did made sense: Get Vipers, go for a bigass timing. But I think there was a point where he missed out on slowly also getting out BL tech, so he had to remax on roach/hydra after the first timing failed.

It seems like it's Protoss "adjustment" for this map (expedition lost). They fake some immo all-in by massing immortals early on and instead of pushing, they harass with warp prism/DT and tech heavily on 2 bases accumulating strong army and then take 3rd. IIRC Zest played similarly in PL against Rogue.
