Why the hell would you take a direct engagement with mass tempests when you can kill his army without being touched?? And don't even recall when you army was dying...

sora was actually in an almost unlosable position but he didn't exploit his position on the left side of the map with cannons and also took just about the worst fight he ever could have. His tempest micro/positioning was really bad considering how well it seemed he had mapped out his transitions to get that point of the game >.>

He didn't target the colossus with his tempests, either.
Either way, an army with tempests loses against an army with no tempests even with perfect targeting, just because it's the highest range unit in the game but you're not using the range at all.
So the intention of making void rays in late game pvp if you get behind on the tempest transition is to tank all the damage from the tempest army and let your colussus melt the archons and use warp in's to kill the immobile tempest after the fight?

Nope void rays are just trash. That's what makes me mad, now people are gonna say that void rays work in lategame but they don't really, it was just a huge throw. What Sora has to do is chain revelation and slowly kill everything abusing tempests's range.

I have to say I watched the game and didn't notice them in that last fight, so I can't say what they achieved There was just too much pew pew going and my eyes just were on the Tempests. I totally focused on how he will micro them and yeah it wasn't good.

No , because by the time tempests kill colossi they already did enough damage.

Game 4 of mvp vs squirtle was 40 minutes of nothing into a archon toilet, game was utter shit
you should watch it again. There was a ridiculous amount of action on the side bases, constant base snipes. The last 10 minutes were perhaps more about positioning, but most of the game was acrion packed despite having super armies. Very different from this pvp for example, though a lot was about the map with two islands.

Yeah that was pretty dumb of him to have a Cannon screen in another base and still let a DT soften up the Robo, then let 2 Zealots finish it off
At least after 5 years into this game the Barracks are neatly placed. Perhaps in another 5 years pros will learn to put buildings for upgrades in good locations.
"Hard to say if that was worth it" It's not that hard to see that 7 drones for 4 WMs and Medivac is horrible trade for Terran in the late game where Zerg is at 70+ workers, ROFL.

"Byuls in a bad position" - Wolf, after byul pushes off the banshee hellion attack, with more established bases, drones, and has mutas flying across the map.

Well, Maru could've kept chasing the Mutas with his Marines while Byul was building a big Ultra, Ling, Bane army. He was already far behind with the economy, he couldn't do much.

Yeah, but the impressive thing is byul spent no gaz to defend it, that was massive...
Think the banshee was more the issue than the Hellions. Banshee vs Zerg once scouted is just meh due to spores not needing evo anymore. If he opens hellion drop play then he would have done the damage he needed to do.

This is so true. Zergs try to use Ultras like they do with Speedlings and wonder why they fail - often blaming the pathing or "dumb ai".

Such great multitasking and creativity. It was tough for hero to deal with such a style when he hasn't seen it before. I wonder if it is just the protoss default to when unsure...build more stalkers. but it didn't work

Beyond just the Swarm Host w/ Nydus play, Rogue probably just played the most effective we've seen with Nydus in a high-level game. If only zergs would learn to use Nydus like medivacs, especially with Hydras.
Rogue is so handsome. Like when he responded to a canon rush with a proxy hatch some time ago. This guy really delivers awesome games. Deserved this win :D

I've been saying from the start that they are quite strong, but it is just that they are really expensive, cost 4 supply each, and are useless for 35 seconds after Locust wave. You can't use them on every map.
But finally some Pro started to use them like this, this was amazing.

months? seems like months now
and to the other guy talking about EU zergs, we all heard nothing but complaints about how SH are dead totally dead, even casters (moon and co) talking about their complete unviability. never saw much argument on here.
But maybe that's a different thread, no balance discussion for me here.

Like with any build, going for it blindly would be foolhardy. It's like Avilo trying to prove a build involving mine-drops was bad because he went for the mine drops despite scouting robo opener.
This strat definitely has got its place in mid-late game. Especially to deny far off bases. Where and when depends on how the game is playing out.
One victory does not mean they will be used in every match. There is still so many timings that will simply kill you if you go for them. Their strength is in that no one knows how to really play against them. Rogue used a really cool snipe build today.
You need more than one game to say "SH are totally viable". It isn't that simple and it obviously depends on what the protoss player is doing and on the map.
That game was awesome and Rogue made a great read on what hero was going to do. Then he used incredible multitasking to out play hero.
it was a sick game but you can't just look at that game and make a boolean statement on SH right now.

I agree, except it was no "great read", it was his strategy of choice since the begining and he probably spend his whole week-end working on it...

good reliable builds are effective even if your opponent knows before-hand. And a mine drop is definitely decent vs robo openings.
So, it's cool to finally see it in a Korean pro game, but we saw this style a lot already right after the patch. It was quickly dismissed, since you can't survive on most maps if you invest in a 5 SH hitsquad. They can't help you defend with only 1 attack per minute. Still an excellent snipe build for this specific map, wp Rogue!
But please don't believe this is new, or even some new meta .
Did people already forget all those gifs on reddit from enraged Protoss players getting their Nexi sniped?

Which is great, I love builds like this that we don't see often because they work only on certain maps against certain strategies.

That's the problem with bias. Anyone can see that it's not the only strength of flying locusts.
At one point, Hero tried defending with a handful stalkers and the locusts just focused down the nexus all the same. This means that he needed either A) more units back at home, or B) more static defense, or C) more map control to prevent nydus.
Option A and B would mean that Rogue can drone and tech hard. Which he did, since muta backstab + locusts forced HerO back a lot.
Option C is tough against ling/muta. Maybe mass phoenix play, which is also bad at attacking into bases.

That's not exactly true. When Stalkers were there they have killed Locusts before they were able to do anything, Locusts managed to kill Nexus only when they already chewed through the whole shield before any of the units came there to defend.
Phoenixes are quite good, especially because Rogue went for Mutas as well, they would be able to kill Locusts and chase down Mutas and Swarm Hosts but that is only if you read the whole situation quite well otherwise it is too late to start making Phoenixes once you see Mutas + Locust wave.

you're right. Dream didn't outplay life. He only wins because of balance. At least that's what lots of people seem to be telling me.

I am not one of those people even though I think that current patch favors Terran a little bit, but saying "You see? Top Terran lost to the Zerg twice, people are overreacting!" is just as narrow-minded and equally stupid.

worst way to answer irony and sarcasm is taking them litteraly
Only thing I want to mention balance-wise is how idiotic TL Terrans' whining is on Thors. Watching Dream play, Thors are often so clutch and a nail in the Z's coffin by disabling Mutalisks. I of course do not think Thors are imbalanced - but some Terrans seem to think Thors are useless against Mutalisks. I love how Dream proves them wrong.
