The advantage of these maps is to push players out of their comfort zone with strange and zany conditions. Who is this an advantage for? What target group is benefiting from this. Viewers? You still haven't explained why the maps need to be changed as opposed to an extension mod (or set of mods) that could accomplish the same, nor whether the barrier to practice would really produce interesting games or will just have players fumbling about (like during the first series of the season, but worse). Recall that these maps don't rotate out very often; if you set all of the maps with the same design change parameters, then it's a test run and the maps themselves become irrelevant; if you set each map to a different design parameter, it makes it much more difficult to practice each map (especially ad-libbing ace matches) such that players or teams or even sponsor might not consider the amount of time needed to make good games to be worthwhile. What I imagine is something like this: Totalbiscuit finds a way to add in popular community suggestions into a mod that for one season is played on all maps. (Not so important to outline exactly how this could be done, but I have my ideas). Over the season patches to the mod could be made in order to improve balance/removed flawed stuff. Could players fumble? Sure, just like they do in these Clan Wars. But it's much more likely that they would be interested in playing the mod than playing maps with "crazy mechanics". Just look at DH where lots of high level players were willing to play on them during showmatches.

As for the rematch, i would love to have these since it could build up some nice rivalries. Even if it's the EXACT same players facing the EXACT same players on the EXACT same map ! Because rivalries are fun and everyone loves some KT vs SKT even if they field the same players

Just look at DH where lots of high level players were willing to play on them during showmatches. As the quote suggested, the advantage is for the players to flex their mental muscles. People often forget that under the umbrella of "skill" includes "adaptability", and a few extra gimmicks to the map don't suddenly flip the board such that pros are left scrambling for months (barring the first few series, most matches seem to imply that players adjusted well enough to the oddities of most maps). I explained it in the paragraph you quoted a la paraphrase: Meanwhile, players don't have to deviate so heavily from traditional build orders (with perhaps the exception of Peninsula and LotV for obvious reasons); they just have to adapt one or two elements to the map, and if things go south, there's enough preexisting resources there that they can understand how to (try to) right it. There's also a distinction between playing a one-time showmatch, or a showmatch set, versus needing to adjust to ever-changing mods. Discarding a map because it's imba or unfun is easy, because the players can just forget about it; discarding or changing a design change that doesn't default back to the current balance and design levels can have serious ramifications for one side or another. There's also the issue of a dynamically-changing tournament scene, which would be a strange one even with the rather informal setting. It all sounds like a good idea, in theory. But I don't see it convincingly enough that the sponsors (or TB) would accept it as a viable way of hosting a tournament. Who decides the patches for the mods? For what duration should they be made? And most importantly, would teams and their players go along with it? Showmatches are one thing because it's individual players offering their free time for a little small-pot exhibition shooting; this is about teams investing their time and effort into practicing for something that could be all for naught. Clan Wars has already proven that maps do work, even if you wish to argue the efficacy of the extent of "working". Balance/design mods in Proleague format? It's a slightly taller order. Remember, Clan Wars has to maintain a standard of quality, so it can't consist entirely of ragtag alliance teams like Baguette; there has to be some legit coherent teams that would also play along (no offense to alliances or Baguette players or baguettes). Funnily enough, this sounds a lot like the Tavern Brawl from Hearthstone.
