Isn't that how it should be, that the better player wins? I've been inactive since september but I do check results here and there. The vast majority of tournaments have very little zerg presence as a whole.. T/P have abusive openers (greedy while safe which zerg cannot do to that effect -> some timing (hellbats/immortals) and better units than before as the game goes on. I don't really mind because I am zerg and it just means I have to try harder but it's a bit discouraging to see So is there anything balance-wise we can do or does it come down to pure design? Nerf hellbats and immortals
I do think reducing the shields on immortals by about 20-30 would be a very good change, as Immortals have this "immortal" feeling to them, where using them in combination with a warp prism (drop) or sentries makes them insanely difficult to kill, no matter what the Zerg does.
As for hellbats, I think the early hellbat pushes are quite powerful, mostly due to how insanely tanky they are for an early-game 100% mineral unit. In addition, they can be healed by medivacs. If they had the same HP as a hellion (90 instead of 135), then they wouldn't be nearly as obnoxious, and the hellbat + marauder + medivac pushes would be a fair bit easier to manage. Of course, it's also annoying that hellbats counter lings about as hard as phoenix counter mutalisks.
And yes, I think warp-ins are rather lame design, and allow Protoss to easily switch between aggression and macro. I always thought it'd be sort of cool if the further the units were warped in, the longer the cooldown on the gateways were. That way, there's some actual downside to aggressive warp-ins...
And oops, sorry for balance/unit change discussion in qualifier thread :D

if Xeno gets better at being solid at home while doing this kinda thing he'd be really fearsome

Ouch, that last Masa vs Xeno game wasn't (isn't) very close. Masa is playing really well now, though! Glad to see him make it.
