If Pigbaby and ForGG win WCS AM and EU we get those two instead of Jaedong and Inno. I would not like that, even if it would be well deserved of course. Doesn't seem unlikely at all.

Jaedong does not deserve to go to Blizzcon this year.

There I said it.

I'd seriously rather have either of those guys, OR Snute over Jaedong.

Well we'll have to wait and see I guess, we could even end up with Scarlett and Bunny at Blizzcon. I wouldn't mind that.

Scarlett going to Blizzcon would mean she won WCS AM this year and that would be fucking rad, ditto with Bunny.

Jaedong going to Blizzcon right now is just due to his traveling and the sheer number of events he's been to. His results in WCS AM have been terrible. The fact he's even in danger of losing his spot after how many events and free points he's soaked up just speaks enough on its own to how nonexistant his results have been this year.

He hasn't looked like a player that should be competing at the culmination tournament of the year at all this year. Let someone else more deserving have it.

Through travelling and through actually winning games at those events, too. His failures this year are terribly overstated, while his victores are undersold. Both years he made 6 semi-finals before Blizzcon. This year he won 2, and got stuck at semi's 4 times. Last year he got second 5 times, which is about equal. The competition wasn't very different, either (besides his first miracle run in WCS Season 2). He had a 54.3% win-rate against offline Korean competition and everyone was excited to see him. This year he's at 52.7% and suddenly he doesn't deserve to be there, while making the finals with his 54.3% last time. If he makes it this year, I won't be surprised if he makes it to Ro8/Ro4 again.

I know Snute is a foreigner and I'd absolutely love to see him there too, but he got the points the same way Jaedong did. Same for Naniwa last year, or even Taeja this year. Fact is, Taeja was better than Jaedong at many of those tournaments, but Jaedong was better than many other people. I love Mvp, but I feel Jaedong has more right to a spot than Mvp had last year, as Mvp basically dropped off completely after an amazing first season. But that's how a yearly point system works. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

But on-topic: The final game was really well played from both sides, which I'm glad I got to watch. Congrats Innovation for winning, and for having an amazing shot at reaching Blizzcon now. Poor soO, he really deserves a win by now. He's kind of like Taeja in GSL, who during his prime had his absolute solidness carry him very far, but then never being able to bring that little extra in the final stages. I hope for his sake he ends up anywhere but second at Blizzcon, that would just be crushing.

I think you've been drinking the EG juice fella. Not undersold at all. The point system is a joke. Cue "Who's Line is it Anyway" where the points don't matter.

Does that mean the finalists get to play "scenes from a hat"?

A lot of people seem to not count it as a GSL win since it was technically OSL. Of course it's stupid, but I don't think that was an oversight.

All we can say is that the current line of T korean champions is pretty crazy : Mvp, Maru, INno.

Current line?

Including Polt and MMA is just as crazy.

Not really on the same level...

They both go on my list of terran legends before Inno and Maru

Under what rationale?

I'd definitely have MMA and Polt on a list of greatest Terrans, but not necessarily ahead of Maru and Inno

To me, if we're talking the greatest in any sport then we're talking numbers. Overall stats, achievements/titles, years of relevence...

7 and 6 titles for MMA and Polt respectively along with their longevity puts them over those guys in ranking the greatest. I don't feel like there is a debate here. And it's no shade on Inno or especially Maru who is super young. They are the better players now but they haven't done enough to be put over MMA and Polt on a greatest list. Inno winning this GSL doesn't suddenly throw him above these guys to me.

I think people forget how dominant MMA was on Slayers. He completely wrecked MVP at the Blizzcon GSL and was the go to guy during Slayers GSTL titles, being a better 'final boss' than DRG at the time. Post-Slayers he seems to finally regaining his form, so we'll see if he can remind people again that's he was actually the best player in the world at one point.

Polt I find a little more debatable, he's very similar to Taeja, except he won a GSL before leaving Korea. I guess you could give him points for being MMA's counter in the MVP-MMA-Polt rock paper scissors match towards the end of WoL, which iirc people actually held against MMA when debating if he was the best player at the time.

The starcraft gods took a dump on everybody claiming a non Protoss final would be the best thing since sliced bread.

Though in the interest of more diversity in which race wins stuff Inno going all the way is good I guess.

I'm so crushed for soO. I watched him live during his Season 1 finals loss to Zest and now seeing him make it to the GSL finals for the fourth time in a row and losing like this is devastating.

I'm at a loss for words...

Every time I stay up to watch a Korean finals, I weigh it against the question, "Was it worth messing with my sleep schedule?"

The answer to this one is no. The series was fun, but it was fun for reasons other than the gameplay. The story lines and the mind games were top notch. The production was solid, but the games just weren't good enough to justify waking up past noon.

Wow, so sad for soO...

Just finished watching. Not a really great final, but the storylines were good enough for the nerdchills.

Congratz INnoVation, he'll be going to Blizzcon as one of the favourites.
And soO? He'll be one of the favourites too.... for second place
