I think That was just a bad matchup for Gumi,
His style relies on being able to out multitask his opponent but classic had great multi tasking and had every unit exactly where it needed to be.

Yeah, it just snowballed out of control from that lead. Classic was able to defend everywhere both due to his great multitasking as well as an army lead and tech lead. The early lead from Classic basically closed the mid game drop window for Gumiho unless Classic made a huge error.

colo phoenix is the least micro intensive P comp, however using 4+ pheonix correctly with your main army is like way harder

If I told you a strategy was successful let's say.... 3 out of 25 times (and that's being generous) would you consider it viable?
It's not viable. It's not that Bio is better (which it is) Mech just has way too many weaknesses a good Protoss can exploit while having so few strengths to make it worth using.
The few times we've seen it employed successfully at the pro-Level it has been in timing attack all ins, most of which are only successful due to significant Hellion or Widow Mine damage done due to poor preparation or scouting from the Protoss.
That's not viability, that's fluke wins.

it's viable if you accept to die to any all in pre 10min to get a composition that's actually worse than bio. Which is just bad.

Terrans like Gumiho just can't survive in that kind of environment.

That is not how it works. Before the tank buff and combined upgrades we never saw mech in Hots TvZ as well. Now we have 2 possible playstyles. If mech was really viable against protoss as you claim it is, we would see it at least in like 1/10th of games played.
And I remember that Supernova game. It was on Frost, horizontal spawn. Not sure who was the protoss but I remember that he opened oracle and despite being able to fly around Supernova's base and scout he recognized he is playing against mech super late. And before that he went for a 2 base storm all in and suicided everything into bunkers and siege tanks.
SN also had WM on both 3rd bases so his third was delayed for a long time because he had no robo and detection. Only then he added robos and Supernova already had like a 100 supply advantage when he moved out.
So it was basically a major screw up on protoss part. Not the best example of mech being viable.
You know mech is super rare since I remember almost the whole game, lol

Maru could've win with upgradeless marines... that's the case for quite a few mech vP games when you just get a good harass/bbq off and then can win with mass vikings if you want.

I watch more Starcraft than is probably healthy and I think I've seen ONE Mech win in all of that time that wasn't the result of some kind of fluke damage done from Hellions or Widow Mines and I've NEVER seen it successful at the top levels of play.
Thing is, when you do that kind of damage it doesn't even matter what you follow it up with.

I watch a lot as well. I have seen it works with supernova and maru and wol some terran winning against oz in pl. I don' t really rmb any other than Mvp tried mech in tvp and failed in Korea level.
I think you are mistaken for things like if he loses so many probes then it doesn't matter what he used to kill him.
The hellion opening is an opening to help transitioning into mech.
It's just like mass blueflame hellion runby. These builds are great openings for mech.

That is probably his biggest problem. I think it is better to play standard than try fancy stuff. Always go for a reaper expand, always put that early bunker up, try to scout for blink or stargate or DT etc.
Protoss is just to strong in early game defense right now. Same thing happened to Flash against Sora when he tried that proxy factory play (even though he almost got back into that game).

Maru refuses to build turrets (although I kind of understand him, those are WoL turrets against Hots mutas) and Curious has great muta harass so he could present a problem for Maru. He should play mech should he find himself against Curious.

Mvp played great mech in that games, Curious is a monster against bio with his muta control.. If Maru plays mech he has great chances, if he plays bio..it will be close.

Twitch won't let me watch the vod despite my 2014 ticket. It even tells me i have a subscription but it wants me to buy a monthy subscription as soon as i click on the vod.

The 19.99 is only for season 1, the yearly sub is $54.99 and the Premium Yearly sub is 89.99. But don't worry, I paid the 55.99 during the Hot6ix Cup and apparently I can't even watch the VoDs either? Even though in the description of the payment you're supposed to have access to "live and VODS" and is shows I have a silver badge. This is frustrating.

Apparently gom is having some issues with twitch's vod system atm. I am seriously pissed as I wanted to watch the vods of the earlier group right after waking up (while the 2nd group was still running) as that is one of the few advantages of twitch vods. I miss gomtv vods more and more every day.
The best part is that if you have subed for this season it tells you to sub, then you click on sub, it then tells you that you have subbed and links you back to the gsl page which tells you to sub.
