Scorched Haven really sucks as far as 2v1'ing goes but the others seem all fine.
Edit: Reclamation is bad for that as well. LOL

Because there aren't very many team game tournaments with pro and semi-pro players, and we figured it would be cool to try a fun and lighthearted event during the holiday season ;D
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Why host another 1v1 tournament when there are 10 a day, might as well have a couple 2v2 events a year ^^ Plus the best 1v1ers usually want a ton of money to play where as the best 2v2 teams are usually just excited to get an event.

Well, from the current ladder: Isle of Slaughter and Resupply Tanker should replace Scorched Haven and Reclamation.

From outside of the current ladder: Omega Sector is a good one. I evaluate these maps based on whether outrageously imbalanced strategies (that I know of) can be carried out on them or not. Glad to see you took Bel'Shir Marquee into the tourny.

I'm suprised baz and getslamt or power and mystic aren't on here.

I think guitarcheese and night have the most experience 2v2ing but skillwise masa and hendralisk will blow everyone away.

Probably because he's not anywhere near as good as any of these players and has insane BM. I think this is pretty well known by just about every good 2v2er for some time now.

Good luck to Kontinue and his nooby partner I'll most certainly be watching this when it's live. There are a few teams I think have a pretty good understanding of some fun gameplay. Should be very entertaining !

This. I've hosted a few 2v2 events for payouts and ProTech never wanted to be involved. He thinks everyone who has ever beat him once is a hacker or stream cheater. If I had to guess, I'd guess he wants to hide behind "the number one random 2v2er in NA" but not actually have pressure to post any results vs good players in a tournament format to back it up.

twilight fortress...scorched haven...reclamation....geosync quarry.....wow......

the new 2v2 ladder map is cool as well as the use rmap but you kept maps from wol and some of the imbalanced rushy maps from hots ladder.

so you put those maps on, then you are going to have 2v2 novices say that 2v2 is just rushing or timing pushes. Its like the organizers never even played remotely even plat level 2v2.

then some idiot is going to say how i haven't suggested. The thread has already made proper suggestions. Reclamation is a horrid map for balance. scorched haven and twilight fortress are from wol beta....

They have already shown that they are willing to adjust the map pool no? Is it final? Changes could still easily be made to make it more balanced.

Just an FYI, the maps went through some of the top 2v2 ranked players in NA.

Also, this isn't WCS, It's a fun event.

Its probalby impossible to balance a competition for 2s. certain matchups will always be imbalanced on certain maps. The way around it is through vetoes.

The real problem is that the organizers had not real rationale for their maps choosing. And their map consults of the top players were inevitably going to be biased. What incentive do they have to truly have a balanced tournament?

The most egregious thing is that lets say the maps are a little bit off, the entertainment value of these games will be horrendously low. Games on graystone ravine would be a little bit more enjoyable, but having maps like reclamation will be horrifically boring and strategically simplistic. The top teams have fine tuned their builds/strats towards this, and hence will favor those maps. The organizers fail to see this or understand this.

For example, I don't do this because its unfair to the competitors. But lets take ZT vs ZP on reclamation. Any top level pro will tell you exactly how this matchup is gonna turn out.

A possible way around this maybe... let people choose whatever race they want each game / map? Most high level teams possess the ability to play multiple races. Or, simply have an extensive veto system.

twilight fortress...scorched haven...reclamation....geosync quarry.....wow......

the new 2v2 ladder map is cool as well as the use rmap but you kept maps from wol and some of the imbalanced rushy maps from hots ladder.

so you put those maps on, then you are going to have 2v2 novices say that 2v2 is just rushing or timing pushes.

There is Veto, 2 maps for each team.

If each team has TWO vetos... and they can pick their races going into the tourney based on the map pool if they so wish, then how could there be a problem ^^ Should be fine.

Why all invitational? You should let top 2x2 ladder teams play here, there is no prize tournaments in 2vs2 that encourage more practice, and the few I see they are only invitational with players that don't play 2vs2 usually and don't know good strats...

I wanted to give sc2 2on2 a chance because i played tons of 2on2 in bw and other rts games but sc2 2on2 is still boring to watch. The cast isnt that good either.

only those things are boring to watch which u have no idea about. if u dont play 2v2 in sc2 its obviously not as tense to watch as for ppl who play 2v2 in sc2 and know about tactics etc

for me 2v2 is the best mod in sc2, just entertaining and a big variety of strategys and matchups

+ teamgames are more interesting in general than only 1v1s. the most successful sports in the tv (except myb boxing/tennis/golf/car racing) are based on teamgames. and thats not a coincidence!

Welp, to all the haters, I say that was a fine tournament. 2v2 works!
