Talking in your native language is usual because you can convey what you want to say 100%...
I imagine it would also take a supreme amount of confidence to give an interview in your non-native language. I know I would struggle.
Like Welmu, Stephano and Lucifron today then. None of them speak english as their native language.
Both of you low-posters are being pretty unrealistic. (Not judging, just identifying you as such)
That's Europe. Europe is a continent with masses of countries close to each other, on on big landmass with English having been an additional language to learn in schools for a long time. Travel to other countries is easy, so knowing extra languages is especially critical and thus also practical to learn. Korea is nowhere near any truly western country to practise speaking it with. Speaking a language is nothing like writing it and Korea is not the only country that doesn't focus on speaking as much as it should (the languages classes where I am are mostly the same ). If they really wanted to, I suppose they could take a trip to Hong Kong? :\ I'm not sure there's much motivation for that.
EU I think is the landmass with the most amount of bilinguals in the world. I mean there are just so many countries and languages to learn. I'm a Canadian and we basically speak English here. I tried learning other languages on my own (Russian, Greek and Latin) and was schooled in French and Spanish but can't use any of them at all, just because it's not easy to find people who speak my language.

In a previous interview, one of them said that they learned only written and not much on speaking it.
Sad that Lucifron lost but Duckdeok earned it so can't say much.
Well the main part of why asian countrys don't learn english is that their writing and pronounciation is so much different than english, or german or any other language that comes from the west. That's why it's so hard for them to learn, exactly as it is harder for us to learn Japanese than German.
As a Bosnian, i could learn russian pretty easy, because it's very similar to my language.
As a German , i was able to learn english, because it was the same alphabet and some grammatical things are very similar.
As a GermanBosnian, i just gave up on trying to learn Korean ( the easiest of the asian languages i guess ) because it was just to hard to comprehend some things for me and there was a lot of mixing up going on.
yeah like the similiar thing between french spanish or italian, it's actually easier for a french to learn spanish than english

How can you not speak Korean in this globalised World -.-
Cause korean is world language...sure... I am German and its a given that you have to learn english cause its needed in todays business world all over the world, even in korea and china.
They do learn English but since they aren't exposed to British and American culture as much as Europeans are they are less likely to be able to practice using it and so on. I learned German in school but since I'm not exposed to German culture or anything I know fuck all German today.
It varies between different people though, duockdueack apparently understand English but doesn't seem comfortable communicating with it.

I guess Welmu should've given the interview in Finnish then. Oh wait, he went to school, so he can speak without a translator.
1st: it's quite much harder for koreans to learn english than for europeans, because korean is a totally different language family and there is basically no overlap between those 2 languages. 2nd: koreans have a much bigger national gaming community so it's not as nessecary to participate in international, english speaking communities like TL. Most of your language skills will come from practicing it regularly, not from what you've learned in school - this was just the basis that you build upon. Hell I had 5 years of french in school and can speak absolutely nothing besides the very very basics like hello, good bye. I can fully understand, that they have difficulties with the language. And you see that some players like Bomber can increase their english skills just by themselves through participating in international communities.

How do you kill, what does not live?
Second time I've posted this today, for very different reasons:
There are plenty of people in Europe who are awful at english. The Czech, for example. I think a lot of German's are terrible at it as well. Of course it's a generational issue to some degree, but I've absolutely been around a lot of young Germans who don't have a clue what I'm saying.
Oh really? Dead stars are being given extra chances? First Idra, now Stephano. I don't really like either, please just stop it.
Send IdrA off to his cooking classes (which should be fun anyway!) and Stephano can become a vet (to help little puppies, after he realises that being a doctor isn't quite what he wants).
