That's part of the problem though. I've seen a few people call Rain consistent and the truth of the matter is he's been anything but in PL. I remember a guy making a thread about asking for stats on Ace Matches and who's played in the most due or die situations. Rain is one of the most sent out guys but his record is anything but good in the clutch matches. They sent him out so many times when it was all on the line, but his record was terrible and the last couple of rounds in PL he did pretty miserable, but if there is one thing consistent about Rain it's his lack of production when it comes to those due or die situations. It wasn't even 50%. -_- I don't see how that qualifies as consistent and he just managed to get out of his last group. It's not pretty, but he'll take it.
That doesn't change anything I said. In due or die situations he is actually 7-9. That's 39% win rate when its on the line last season. One of the many reasons I was kind of surprised that he was awarded the MVP for Protoss especially after rounds 5 and 6. Then we all know what happened in the playoffs. The real reason he won is because he had the most wins and that goes back to what I said about being sent out the most (he played more than any other Protoss player) and having good runs during the Winners League format. If I were voting I'd lean more towards sHy considering he led the league with JangBi in most clutch performances via winrate (fyi JangBi and sHy had stupid winrates in the clutch-- I couldn't believe it myself when I looked it up because it sort of flew right over my head but my God those numbers don't lie). It's a shame Woongjin didn't use him more. That's what happens when you have a lot of strong players on your team and you can use them in various situations. You don't get sent out often enough or else he would have had more opportunities to prove he deserved the MVP award over Rain.
He had a really bad last month in Proleague, before that he had the best winrate from the players with 30+ wins. That's one bad month from 8(a really bad month, I agree).
And keep in mind that he was always sent last for SKT, compared to Flash and Innovation who where often sent in the beginning so they could sometimes get those all kills easier.
That's sort of the point though I made with regard to the Winners League because a guy like sHy would hardly be used because of the depth on the Woongjin Stars roster. When your team is performing well it's a lot easier for you to float under the radar and then you also have the B-Team Woongjin Stars team playing in the last couple of weeks before playoffs to rest the other players lmao.
Teams like SKT1, KT and STX relied more on their Star players throughout the entire season in the clutch.

You mean the ace matches? Yes, you are right. Rain doesn't have a good win ratio.
But remember that PL has a bo1 format, and OSL Finals have bo7. Actually Rain has a whopping 79% in bo5+ matches (11-3):

.. Was I born yesterday? We're not just talking about Ace matches; we're talking about in the clutch as well. In other words, closing out the match for your team. Winners League format isn't pure because players can stomp.
What we're looking at is parts of the whole and there are inconsistencies in his game. That's what I'm pointing out. We're talking about very recent stuff too might I add. He's not as consistent as many people are led to believe. We all know his record against Terran; we all know he's the last OSL Champion; we all know his stats in best of's; etc. What I'm doing is bringing into light Rain's abysmal inconsistency under the PL pressure and the fact he barely made it through the group stage. That's as recent as you can possibly get. That's what makes this Finals interesting or else everyone would think Rain would run over Maru even if Rain has a 10-1 record against Terran. Do I think Rain will win? Most likely. I said this before but here we go again, the fact this guy will probably go back-to-back in OSL victories when he hasn't really been playing to his best ability is kind of scary. Maybe that says more about him than anything else. It's as if he's coasting to another OSL trophy.
"... while choosing to use the Terran race at a time when this was seen as a relatively weak choice in comparison to the other two StarCraft races." This is the path of the Emperor.Do you see what i see ? You really count on some protoss who is not Bisu ?
HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE. I'd love to see Maru take this...i don't think he'll go for cheeses too much though in a BO7 you can be sure as hell there's gonna be some shenanigans thrown in....
I think that Rain is watching Mvp vs hasu, Mvp vs Grubby, Ryung vs Oz, Lucifron vs Welmu, Lucifron vs duckdeok, Naniwa vs MMA, laughing like a madman, gaining more and more confidence with every second that passes by.

I'm ready for a 4:0.
Don't forget Buyn vs hero, Bang vs hero. Would be hilarious if Maru can't even take a map with the inevitable 11/11.
