Seriously wtf is this hype about soulkey now being a million gazillion times better than any other zerg? feels like yesterday when Life was supposedly the next best player after god, or when DRG was that guy. Hyun is just as good as any other Zerg and has a chance to win on any given day against anyone.

Because he's the most consistent and doing the best overall against the highest level of competition in the past few months. In some people minds Hyun maybe a "top tier zerg" (I personally have my doubts but w/e) but you could probably lump him in a group of good zergs that go from great to mediocre day to day.

Did you watch his WCS America group? I'm sort of glad he got disqualified... We can't have every game lasting 10 minutes because Jim does the most random timing with perfect forcefields and kills his opponent...

In China it would but I doubt the viewer numbers would be that different, I hope blizzard does something for the Chinese scene, it's a massive market to just forget about.

The more I look at the brackets, it looks like a Polt vs HyuN re-re-match.

HyuN isn't a top Korean? He's tied with Maru & JaeKong for rank 16 in WCS points... and he'll be tied with Rain for #15 once he beats Daisy and reaches the Ro8... lol

You really want to go by wcs points when hyun is farming wcs points from foreign tourneys and wcs na?

Yes. You think consistently getting top 8 at every single top tier foreign tournament is easy?

There's no such thing as a top tier foreign tourney competition wise anymore since the introduction of wcs. Europe never had a ton of koreans in their tourneys, so it's status quo there, but last MLG was the weakest level of competition since koreans started playing in them.

So yes, I don't think it's that impressive. A number of the top tier koreans could do the same if given the same opportunities. Foreign tourneys these day consist mainly of just koreans on foreign teams for the most part.

I'll list the notable opponents HyuN has beaten at each tournament since you're so stubborn.

DreamHack Stockholm - Puzzle, elfi, MC, NaNiwa, YugiOh, SaSe

DreamHack Summer - Daisy, Stephano, sLivko, TheStC, GuMiho

HomeStory Cup 7 - MaNa, HasuObs, viOLet, MC

MLG Spring - Bubbles, the Coach Park slayer, YugiOh, soO, Sound, HerO, HerO again

DreamHack Valencia - VortiX, TheStC, LucifroN, Goswser, Jaedong

SO EZ, YO. SO EZ.

Gumiho and Jaedong and possibly violet are the only 3 on that list I would classify as tough wins.

soO was OSL Ro16, HerO was the WCS America Season 1 champion, YugiOh is in the third round of Code A after falling out of the OSL Ro32 after losing to Flash and Soulkey, NaNiwa was the DreamHack Stockholm runner-up, LucifroN is the best foreigner right now, TheStC 29:00 http://www.twitch.tv/nathanias/b/432882074 pretty top tier taking a ~50 minute game off of Jaedong.

Did you see soo's games vs gumiho last week? Naniwa is good for a foreigner. Yugioh, I've already said is just ok. Hero got smashed at wcs finals. Lucifron is the most overrated foreigner and always chokes at lans compared to the hype people give him. Have you seen the stc play lately? He lost to huk for god's sake last week. He's been on a steady decline for a while now and was never top tier in the first place anyways.

You're stubborn. Why are you even watching this tournament? If HerO and MC aren't good players who is that's left? ^_^

I just have higher standards when it comes to throwing around the term top tier because that's a small elite class of players. I still have a great time watching tourneys.

Well, if you don't think HyuN, who is statistically the best Zerg in the world right now ( http://www.aligulac.com/ ), is top tier, who is?

Not sure if I'm doing this 100% correctly, but this gauges the players if they played in a round-robin format.

HerO 11.61% 18.21% 21.93% 17.28% 14.60% 8.84% 5.17% 2.37%

Oz 0.60% 1.83% 4.30% 8.51% 12.46% 18.60% 25.68% 28.01%
Revival 0.50% 1.80% 5.18% 6.25% 11.46% 17.41% 23.74% 33.67%
Estimated by Aligulac. Modify.

Looking at statistics, Polt vs HyuN is the likeliest predicted finals.

Heh, well I won't rant about aligulac as I've ranted plenty about that rating system in the past. In short it can be summed up with the words ForGG, so I don't think it's a good rating system, just like the tl elo rating system isn't good either.

Didn't Aligulac have ForGG near the top for awhile? xD

I'm not saying Hyun isn't top-tier, I think he is looking purely at some of the names he's beaten and his gameplay (absurd macro and diverse play). Just stats can be deceiving.

His ZvZ at the very least has got to be top 3 atm.

Props to IEM for not having any teamkill situations in the Ro8 when it's completely avoidable. You guys are definitely not DreamHack or MLG... or Blizzard/WCS organizers for that matter.

Well, if you don't think HyuN, who is statistically the best Zerg in the world right now ( http://www.aligulac.com/ ), is top tier, who is?

he is statistically the best because he farms foreigners haha pay attention man... like we've been saying soulkey is probably the only top top tier zerg right now, life was a few months ago.

Completely overlooking the most consistent zerg ever in SYMBOL!
