Well the games were pretty bad, but it was certainly not boring.

On the other hand sOs' games were pretty funny

Hard to watch these vods when the english audio is being drowned out by the Korean commentators going berserk in the background. This is a disappointing and shoddy production given all the hype and expectations.

I'm just glad that ForGG and MVP stomped all over the people who said they're not up to it. The clearly showed that they are great players and can compete on Code S level any day of the week even though they have been playing on the EU ladder.

Also happy for Innovation who showed that he is the best player atm, leaving no doubt!

At the same time, this is still the beginning of HOTS and the game is changing a lot, there could be some serious new contenders now. Even Life has been qualified as in bad shape because he lost two series to Innovation and Parting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think that the level of skill of the winners of the korean event is obviously a thousand times better than the other, we hype them as being so good for being twice in a row in the RO4 but we didn't bring any new player to prevent them aside from Mvp. I am very excited for the OSL to see if the same players are going to shine or if we are going to have some new very good talent.

If it's true that OSL will be bo1 in the ro32 groups, and bo1 round robin in ro16, we could see very unpredictable results.

I like it the way it is. It's better than in BW atm. If sc3 is a game where the hardest working players don't win, then it won't be a game that i like to watch.

ForGG works harder than Mvp. He didn't win.

Hard work isn't the determinant factor nor should it be.

I just assumed it would remain GSL format, did you hear they might stick with their previous format? I wouldn't mind it for the sake of variety. I used to love the GSL group system a lot, then every WCS region started doing it I find it has lost its flavor (just imo)

Innovation is the perfect example of hard work coupled with a good practice regime paying off. Seeïng where he came from in BW.

That's fine, there is always also things like confidence and talent which are important. The later one was especially important in BW and still is somewhat relevant. I think ForGG was a bit unlucky, he made some moves which were questionable but that's what happens in SC2.

All in all, WCS EU had the best organization, commentating and the most exciting games. But I guess the latter is because Innovation didn't play there. The guy is just out of this world.
Parting: Well, even I can make better maps than these.

It's as if you guys never heard these guys before. You rather have the couch and the other announcers stuck in some sound proof backroom?

wasnt that said about sc2?

I have no idea about how it was with bw, but from what I've heard it's gotten way better with sc2? As in we don't have to throw a party every time a foreigner takes a game off a korean.

Maybe not in WCS America or WCS EU, but in old GSL's (old? Like three years ago. Wow has SC2 really been out this long???) Naniwa and other foreigners who could advance were the white man's King of Kings in starcraft. In BW there was a similar trend. Foreigners like Grrr (eSports hall of famer) and Idra had success with Koreans but eventually the Korean dominance takes over. More to the point, when Thorzain won a game in Proleague we did indeed throw a party.

That is not in the "old GSL's" or 3 years ago for that matter. In the beggining you had Jinro and Idra going far, that was something like 3 years ago

Then there was Huk...after that Naniwa. And even now, sometimes you get a win from a korean. Its still better than it was in BW.

Also Idra had no success with koreans in bw. He was on Estro and CJ and was good in foreigner terms but Im not sure you can say he had success in bw with koreans.

People forget guillaume patry and bertand gospellier

Compare the game back then to how BW is now? You cannot even compare the two. We had so many eras man and that era was just as BoxeR was emerging. There is no comparison.

Chances of that happening sound improbable.

Just watched the Vods of the finals and I have several gripes.

First, I couldn't find the vods on the WCS website, so I had to come into this thread to find the actual time the finals began. Naturally, the WCS website had already spoiled the results for me, as they are displayed on the right hand side.

Secondly, Day9 and Apollo's casting was embarrassing. They either were sleep deprived, drunk or something else was seriously wrong. They weren't actually saying anything half the time, they whistling, going "dum de dum" and whatnot during the battles. I had to apologize to the people (not so into SC as me) who I showed the finals to.

Third, the actual production was dismal. No good fillers, poor graphical presentation, awful sound. They even messed up the overlay in the last game (it showed sOs's supply as Innovation's, and vice versa). This is supposed to be the premier event and yet it was god awful.

The games were nice, though. Watched every single one of them despite knowing the results.
