As in we don't have to throw a party every time a foreigner takes a game off a korean. Maybe not in WCS America or WCS EU, but in old GSL's (old? Like three years ago. Wow has SC2 really been out this long???) Naniwa and other foreigners who could advance were the white man's King of Kings in starcraft. In BW there was a similar trend. Foreigners like Grrr (eSports hall of famer) and Idra had success with Koreans but eventually the Korean dominance takes over. More to the point, when Thorzain won a game in Proleague we did indeed throw a party.
That is not in the "old GSL's" or 3 years ago for that matter. In the beggining you had Jinro and Idra going far, that was something like 3 years ago
Then there was Huk...after that Naniwa. And even now, sometimes you get a win from a korean. Its still better than it was in BW.
Also Idra had no success with koreans in bw. He was on Estro and CJ and was good in foreigner terms but Im not sure you can say he had success in bw with koreans.

Sadly, unlike Mvp and to some extent MC, NesTea does not seem to have the ability to pull off runs out of his ass and remind everyone to not doubt.
Hard to blame Nestea. He's old. He falls asleep during games x(

True. Those are names that actually had success with koreans in BW.

So who do you think is the most surprising player of the tournament? I personally would have to go with Mvp. He hasn't been that great in recent times and he qualified through EU, which should be an easy region when compared to KR. Beside that he even made it to top 4, which I hoped, but certainly didn't expect.
Innovation's POV almost gave me a seizure.

Of course MVP. He also managed to get 2 matches from Innovation when SoS didnt manage to even get 1. He showed everyone that he is not done yet. I am looking forward to MC comeback who hasn't even got health problems.

Wow I just watched the first semi final, and is it me or was the english cast terrible ? Too many casters, fooling around, not commenting the screen viewers were seeing. It looked like some of them couldn't properly see the game itself. It sounded completly off and weird.

Just finished watching the final vods and the commentary was very unprofessional overall, full with terrible jokes and too much random talk. I was gonna say that, but then I realized the vods avaliable right now are from the OSL2 channel i.e. secondary casting. So it's to be expected that they are more chill.

Even foreigners who are willing to work as hard as Koreans are (I would think Naniwa is an example) can't reach the level of top Koreans right now because the Korean scene has infrastructure (here we go again!) that is better prepared for training players. I think in the future the gap may narrow if Western teams work together to provide a better training environment for players.
