It's time for the next HomeStoryCup again! Dennis 'TaKe' Gehlen will open the gates to Krefeld's Nerdvana from the 20th - 23rd of June for the world elite of StarCraft II, which will be fighting for glory, honor and fun! The last title for the „HomeKing“ went to Snute, who could defeat Symbol in an amazing set of games. And to guarantee top matches and the best StarCraft II action imaginable again, we have set up three qualifiers for the HomeStoryCup VII. Each qualifier is dedicated to its own area: One for Korea, one for the American area and one for Europe. The top three of the NA and EU-qualifier will get an invite for the HomeStoryCup, and the 1st and 2nd place of the KR-qualifier will get an invite too. And like in previous HomeStoryCup qualifiers, the winner(only the first place!) of each qualifier will receive a paid trip, which will cover all travel expenses for the HomeStoryCup VII in Krefeld, Germany.
Qualifier and stream schedule for the HomeStoryCup VII:
Everyone is allowed to participate in one of the qualifiers, with the only requirement, that your official place of residence needs to be in the specific region of the qualifier. The Sign-Ups are already available. IMPORTANT: Check-In for each qualifier will be one hour before tournament start and will end 30 minutes before tournament start!
All qualifiers will be broadcasted by Dennis 'TaKe' Gehlen along with one or more of his usual suspects. Additionally, we will provide an English stream for each qualifier. The caster(s) for the English stream will be announced soon. So pull on your trunks and equip yourself with cold beer. We herald the summerseason with the HomeStory Cup VII.
And last but not least, we would like to thank our sponsors! Without them, the tournament wouldn't be possible!
Everyone is allowed to participate in one of the qualifiers, with the only requirement, that your official place of residence needs to be in the specific region of the qualifier.
Just wondering- what about players that reside outside of those Regions? (china/sea/etc)

I quess they dont want any audience from nordic countries since middsummer party is at the same time. I wont be watching at all which is very sad because HSC is the best tournament.
Best. Tournament. Ever. Its as easy as it is. Blizzard should give about 500 WCS points to everydays winner of loopin` louie. Tarson would be qualified without even playing Hots.

HSC is one of the best tournaments. Ever. Hoping great personalities advance through the qualifiers (who cares about the level of play in HSC anyway ).

Just few days ago there was 31,3 in LAPLAND (near artic sea), Finland(for long time was over 30)...at the same time mid and south europe was/is "freezing" :D and every where at finland was/is over 25 :D
looking for notable early matchups Ruin vs First Maru vs Bang Noblesse vs Ragnarok San vs Genius those are the ones that stood out to me the most. a couple of other big names playing against b teamers but it's bo1 in the early round so there could be upsets

Same prizepool as MLG Anaheim, 1/4 of players through qualifiers. I'd be shocked if this wont be Tier 1

Depends on the number of invites compared to qualifyers i would hope.

I think a larger percentage of the players need to be from an open qualifier for it to be a WCS event. HSC is mostly invites, that's like handing extra WCS points to people they choose to invite.

Well, HSC is a 32 man tournament, and holds 3 qualifiers with 2 spots each, that would make it less than 25%. In the last one only 4 out of 32 players were not invites, since they don't cover expenses for 2nd place in qualifiers, and the NA and KR runner ups couldn't come.

They created a partnership to avoid tournaments being on the same day(s)... Such as DreamHack Winter and IEM Singapore last year.

8 players qualify ( 3 EU, 3 NA, 2 KR) from the qualifiers. And I dont think it matters if qualified players give up their spot when it comes to WCS status ( I dont think Blizzard would revoke the status of Tier 1 just because a player couldnt make it)

If a Prime player gets second, there is a possibility he can't afford the trip.

Can't cheer for Maru losing though, he deserves to go skill-wise. It's just that Maru is like supershy (even with a translator) and it doesn't fit the atmosphere in HSC. Since it's more than just playing the game there. And Leenock is very outgoing, just like most Koreans who has been abroad enough to be confident in their english ability.
Might be very diffcult to know when it's worth getting. Since you might get overrun by opponents phoenix if you try to get it. I dunno, not a toss player and veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery far from a pro xd

This isn't over for Polt, he still maintained some good tech and keeps his third while Hendralisk is playing super greedy with 92 Drones which may come to bite him back with a reduced army supply, giving Polt time to mount a counterattack.
Hendralisk played great there, but Polt was fairly meh throughout the last game. Fairly poor army control, macro slipping after early-game and some late timings really kept him from his top. And he didn't defend against those Baneling attacks on his third, you would expect him to build a Bunker or even station a few units and a Siege Tank.

Kind of stupid in my opinion the amount of exposure not first place players and their sponsors get at hsc is probably the highest. But what do I know. Maybe it is just a setup for a donation campaign. Would be nice, as Catz seems to fit very well into hsc.
If CatZ knows his chances are slim he will get the paid trip but its possible to get a qualifier spot... he should either go or not play at all and take chances away from others.
Considering he was only 3 games from winning the paid trip, I think he made the right choice to play.
But yeah, travel to Germany is not cheap. Can't blame CatZ at all for his decision. At least this year we'll actually have an American representative in qxc at Homestory Cup. And maybe Complexity will send hendralisk as well.

It's not like no one is going to get his seed..
He still kicked people out and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt they could have potentially either reached top 3 or even the finals and take #1 because as he said, his ZvT isn't very good.

I doubt many others played hoping to get second place and pay for the trip.
He should go, HSC is probably the best tournament, and is worth the investment. Sad that he is not going after he had a bracket that anybody could qualify out of while more skilled players eliminated each other.

I still don't think it matters. There was a chance to get a free trip, so he tried to get it (and made it to the finals, closer than literally everybody else, beside QXC of course). He didn't get the triqp, so he's not going. He kicked people out? Who cares, the better player is supposed to win, and that obviously wasn't them. The only situation where this matters is where he was DQed sometime during the tournament, that screws the players that got knocked out - but he wasn't, so it's fair game.
Well now I'm sad someone like Suppy didn't make it, EG would have certainly sent him over. But I guess EU has plenty of good players willing to take that spot too.

He deserves to catch a break, especially when he has a much more expensive trip if he has to pay himself than Bunny. Almost a waste for Bunny to win a paid trip.
Plus Pandatank gets so close over and over in terms of performances, like semi finals of WCS qualifiers etc.
Speaking of the other qualifiers, did Maru and Hendralisk confirm that they are going? I heard that Catz declined the invite due to the cost, so do we know if State was given an invite instead?
I also thought it was 3-1 but I am guilty of not giving it my full attention (scoreboard said 2-1, shortly after I heard TaKe say Bunnys name and then the stream went off).
Sad for Maru. In some ways I wish Prime would disband so he could get picked up by a team who can afford to send him to events. But on the other hand it would be sad to see one of the teams that was created since the start of SC2 to disband.
