MOD NOTE: The bracket on Liquipedia is not final and should be assumed to be speculative. If you are a competitor, trust what MLG Admins tell you over the bracket. |

They sure did. @pitchforkMLG on twitter should be trending right now

Re-doing the qualifiers will just draw more attention to their screw-ups.

They don't need to straight up nerf the hellbat, but rather delay these drops a bit until people can actually deal with them if they spot them. Just make them more expensive and not healable by medivacs. Demuslim was saying at least 150 minerals.
God no @ the 150 minerals, unless you want mech to never be viable again. @ the remove medivac healing, yes, because then hellbats are better against archons in TvP and not so abusive in drops.

I really disagree with that, they aren't *that* good of a unit, they are just good at killing workers, and that is just really in the early game, or midgame if you have successfully dropped in early game. Nerfing a unit like that would basically make mech not possible in TvZ and TvP.
Yep. Blizzard blew it with game design in HOTS. Their intention was to create unit to make Mech viable and combat Zealots. What they ended with was Hellbats tat have become an excellent harass unit, think pre-nerf BFH. Much better than the Oracle, the harass unit they added for Protoss, which like Dark Templars early, is a total coin flip when it comes to harass.
Don't even get me started on the other new HOTS units... the worst part about all this, is that I said Hellbat drops would be overpowered from the start not long after the beta was released...
Oh wait what is this: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=378373
"Now one might say, "doesn't the Hellbat give Terran what it needs versus Zealots?" Well, the Hellbat presents a lot of problems that the Warhound doesn't. First, it only costs minerals, and now again Terran has a powerful mineral only unit from one tech tree that can combined with gas units from another tree. Thus, a Bio player could easily incorporate Hellbats into their builds and we have the same problem we ran into with Marines being combined with Mech units. And the fact that Hellbats can be healed due to their Biological status just exacerbates the problem, and I've seen a lot of players simply adding Hellbats into Terran Bio, which leaves Protoss with even fewer options to deal with MMMGV + Hellbat because Zealots aren't nearly as effective even when the only upgrade the Hellbats have is Blue Flame.
The Hellbat is also too cost effective for a mineral only unit. It is not only an effective main line fighter but it still harass very effectively. Furthermore, when dropped from Medivacs Hellbats easily wipe out a mineral line in a few shots with it's wide arc of fire. Think pre-nerf Blue Flame Hellions! "
Do I look like Nostradamus now? I shouldn't because it isn't hard to predict how new units will effect the game, just takes some logical thinking... which Blizzard apparently completely lacks.

Thought the same but I think it's just bc of the stupid censoring. There are 4+ names in bold.

Do you think MLG should have kept the ~20 dollar buy in for this qualifier considering all the problems they are having now?

1. They forget the chinese players 2. They misinform them afterwards 2. Comm manages to get a spot, plays fairly, is completely honest about him playing, AND only playing on one account. And now he's getting DQ'd because of enforcement of a rule to secure more spaces for 'F5-Spamming -checkin- diamond players'..
Yea..
And whats this **** about ruining the viewer experience by removing the bracket.. wtf?!
This tournament is a joke.

Nerfing a unit like that would basically make mech not possible in TvZ and TvP. That's not a massive nerf, It makes them slightly worse in the early game without hurting them too much in the mid-late game. 50% cost increase isn't a lot, what is? Minerals might not be the most important part of mech, but it is not something to scoff at like that. So it costs 100 minerals to make hellions and 150 to make hellbats, but in the mid and late game you can just make hellions and then convert them, seems reasonable.
That's circumventing the issue with them killing too many workers easilly. Just lower their damage and increase their rate of fire so people have time to run away/split workers.

Yeah, even though way more players got to play (I even think everyone had their chance) in their 4 qualfiers, they still checked in pros like Xigua before the official check-in. Pretty neat.

That isnt the problem. The problem is the max 512 player format, etcetcetc... a fee doesnt solve anything as there are alot of good player that want to qualify..

mlg should man up and admit that they have made a mistake and give comm back his right to play in the loser final

No, but they should have expanded the bracket or secured spots for pros if it's only 512.
